About this deal

Bear in mind, though, it’s really loud at those volumes, so you probably only need to go that high if you’ve got a lot of people congregating over a larger area. The lack of added sibilance is a hard trick to pull off when balancing the highs with lows that are this boosted, but JBL manages to make it happen. The only thing that you want to keep in mind about the cylindrical design about this speaker is that if you throw it into the trunk of your car… you’re going to have to secure it somehow…. Bass figures prominently here, no matter what you’re playing, but we came away impressed with how good it was at background tunes when we played some late night jazz at lower volumes while sitting outside at night. The included power supply is bulky, but ships with a cable cinch to keep the wire slack under control.

Regarding speaker set ups, both the Original boombox and boombox 2 have dual 4 inch frontward firing woofers, dual 3 quarter inch frontward firing tweeters and dual passive radiators that shoot out the sides. JBL Boombox 2 also features a built-in powerbank to keep your devices charged so the music never stops. It can also get louder with less compression at max volume, so audio quality doesn't degrade as much as you bump up its volume. From backyard barbecues to weekend road trips, JBL Boombox 2 brings it with monstrous bass, bold design and up to 24 hours of play time. You also get play/pause and volume up/down buttons, along with LED indicators at the bottom to show battery life. It’s big and heavy, and portable in the sense that it has a built-in handle for taking it to the backyard, rooftop, or to and from your car’s trunk. The range of it while connected to your device can go up to 50 ft, this could vary depending on the environment.

Across the front face of the speaker, there are controls for power, Bluetooth pairing, play/pause (this button can also skip forward a track with two presses, but oddly cannot skip backwards with three), and plus/minus buttons for volume control. But definitely, when used with the correct EQ settings, the Boombox 3 does have noticeably more bass to it than these other two speakers thanks to its additional subwoofer. It’s a beast for its size, and we appreciated that it shrugged off distortion when we turned up the volume. theres no longer an external power brick that you have to keep track of with either the Boombox 2 and original boombox. For example: You will not be able to successfully connect the new PartyBoost enabled Flip 5 with a Connect+ enabled speaker like the Pulse 3 or Flip 4. Overall, the Boombox 3 is a very solid speaker… but I still wish that JBL did a few things differently.
