About this deal

But have only given 4* as the keys struggle to move fast enough to make sound on each press of the note when doing quick succession single trills that could be considered more advanced but should be capable for lower levels too, and every now and then the quality of the voice falters mid play but not enough to think it's a fault just think it's because of the level this keyboard is at. It might help you with some aspects of having a person coach you, but thanks to technology, there are also some very fun and more affordable ways to learn to play the piano. If I had one complain is that the sustain pedal seems a bit off, it works but not as noticeable as with accoustic pianos. My one main dislike at this point is that the sustain pedal doesn’t really seem like a real piano and doesn’t sustain as well as I had hoped. Keeping things simple the DDP-80 sports only a volume dial and headphone jack (enabling near silent and completely silent practice and play) and a USB socket allowing you to use the Donner as a control keyboard for your favourite music software – including the Donner mobile music app complete with free lessons, of course.

Smartphones or tablets simply use their built-in microphone to “hear” if you’re playing the right notes and can advise you on what you can do to improve. I hadn’t touched a piano in 25 years due to having no room in the house and wanted to take it up again. At first, I thought that’s kind of inconvenient, but given that the whole point of this piano is to mimic an acoustic piano, I really don’t mind – and I found I’m rarely needing to adjust the volume anyways. Donner's choice to go with just the 1 piano sound and very minimal controls makes it clear who their target audience is. And while it is heavier than a slab style piano, the legs are removable so you COULD still definitely use this in a performance given the powerful speakers and available line out – and it would look pretty cool on a stage. The device is housed in a wooden chassis, and the metal feet are disguised to look just as if they were made of the same wood. And, rather than having a stand with end cheeks and a back panel, the DDP-80 simply has four flared-out slimline legs that are screwed to the bottom. The PSR-EW425 and PSR-E473 have 76- and 61-note touch-sensitive keyboards respectively, and offer an impressive and all-encompassing 820 voices apiece. I’ve played the piano for over 50 years and I must say this is the best keyboard/piano I’ve ever played. I’ve always been interested in digital music instruments, and while I never intended to turn my passions into a profession, I still love the art of music production and creative play. Really appreciate the great communication from the Seller trying to work out the problems and make it right. It lacks the voice features of some other keyboard pianos, but if you are looking for a beautiful keyboard that sounds like a traditional acoustic piano, this is it.I'd be wary of some of the accounts on reddit that post how much they love the piano, how great it is, etc.

Of course, the DDP-80 also comes with an optional piano stool perfectly matching it for size and aesthetics and – via the optional Customised Music Stand – Donner can even engrave the DDP-80’s stand with words of your choice – adding a little touch of personalisation that the owner will love. In fact, with its brown wooden casing (alright, MDF casing) and mid-century styling, the instrument it most closely resembles is the classic Clavinet D6. I went ahead and purchased the product but had to rush the gift-giving "in-case" there was an issue with the piano. If you play an acoustic piano, it’s as loud as it is, and if you play notes softer, it changes the nature of the music. And the nice thing about having this port included is that you still get the benefit of hearing the built in speakers when you are using this port to connect to external amplification, so you still have the benefit of the 40 watts of built in speaker power. They have a lot more power and are MUCH more full sounding than the Yamaha P-125 or P-45, and the Casio Privia series.
