About this deal

Earlier this week during a coversation with KC 2.0, I was reminded of my favourite childhood novel EVER ! We believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life with the support to reach their full potential. Yes, run along," said Mother. So off the three children went, out of the tiny white front gate and into the lane. The tree is populated by a good number of folk, though only a few are ever named. There appears to be no water supply or sanitation, and yet Dame Washalot is endlessly tipping dirty water down the tree. Being soaked by this water offers endless amusement to all but the soakee. When I started reading this, I felt I have read this already but then parts of it I couldn't remember. There is a character called Moonface which I was sure I have read about somewhere but then again I was equally sure I haven't in fact read this book.... And finally I figured out why this story and characters felt a bit familiar...It's because I have watched Enchanted Lands which is based on this book series.

Three books make up the Faraway Tree trilogy by Enid Blyton: The Enchanted Wood, The Magic Faraway Tree and The Folk of the Faraway Tree. For many, they are the most magical of the stories that Enid Blyton wrote, and their first introduction to the author. They went down a little green path that looked as if it had been made for rabbits, it was so small and narrow. I love it, it is very magical and has a lot of characters. Definitely recommend for people who love adventures. I feel as if there are adventures about," said Jo. "Come on! Over the ditch we go—and into the Enchanted Wood!"

Additionally Dame Slap is now Dame Snap, and disciplines the children in her school by scolding them rather than slapping them. Mr. Watzisname cannot remember his name. He sleeps and snores all the time. During a particular story at the Land of Secrets, Mr. Watzisname discovers his name, Kollamoolitumarellipawkyrollo, then forgets it almost immediately as it is so long; The mechanics of the Faraway Tree are a mystery. It seems incredibly easy to climb and in all the rushing about nobody every seems in danger of falling off. The branches appear to be twenty feet wide and flat... There's a ladder up into the clouds at the top of it and this leads to ever-changing magic lands that swing into position one after the next.

It is difficult to tell whether all of this is real or just the vivid dreams of a child's imagination. We cannot see this would as an adult, only as a child, and whether this world is imaginary or not, it is irrelevant because it is the children that see, experience, and consider this world to be real. The Enchanted Wood is simply just that, a magical wood inhabited by magical creatures. In the middle of the wood is the Magic Faraway Tree, a tree that grows right up to the clouds and from the top of the tree you can travel to magical worlds. However, if you stay too long you the land will move on and you will not be able to return to the tree. The tree is also inhabited by a number of characters. At the top of the tree is Moon-face, a friendly man who loves his toffee. There are also a number of other characters, such as Wat-is-name, the angry pixie, and Mrs Washalot. I thought this was my all time favourite whilst growing up. When I first read it when I was 9 I thought it was magical and even after all these years it has fond memories for me and will forever be in my book of happy memories . This is my favourite book of all time. I'm now 33 years old and can still clearly remember the many happy hours I spent reading this book. I started reading this at a fairly young age and would sit for ages on my bed, lost in the world of the Enchanted Wood and wishing something like finding the Magic Faraway Tree would happen to me instead of having to play cops and robbers with my brother. I also began reading lots more Enid Blyton and as a result became an avid fan of the Famous Five an... Not far off was a clear piece of soft grass. As Fanny looked at it she noticed bumps appearing on it. She stared in surprise. The bumps grew. The earth rose up and broke in about six places. The Enchanted Forest Community Trust is registered in Scotland, charity number SC045237: company number SC357866Blyton was a prolific author of children's books, who penned an estimated 800 books over about 40 years. Her stories were often either children's adventure and mystery stories, or fantasies involving magic. Notable series include: The Famous Five, The Secret Seven, The Five Find-Outers, Noddy, The Wishing Chair, Mallory Towers, and St. Clare's. Inside the Enchanted Wood, they make all kinds of unusual new friends, including Moonface, Silky the fairy and the hard-of-hearing Saucepan Man, and soon find themselves involved in a host of exciting adventures. Best of all is the discovery that strange new lands can be found in the clouds at the very top of the Faraway Tree itself - from the Land of Spells to the Land of Treats to the Land of Do-As-You-Please.

But long before they reached their new home they were tired out and could not bother to say a word more to each other. Their cottage was five miles from the station, and as the children's father could not afford to do anything but walk there, it seemed a very long way indeed. There was no bus to take them, so the tired children dragged their feet along, wishing for a cup of milk and a cosy bed. The Faraway Tree series were particular favourites of mine however, and I had been hankering to revisit them for some time. I knew I was taking the risk of marring my rose-tinted memories of this series but decided to proceed, regardless. In 1997, stories from the novels were adapted into animated ten-minute episodes for the TV series Enid Blyton's Enchanted Lands. The series, entitled Enchanted Lands: The Magic of the Faraway Tree had 13 episodes: Organisers of The Enchanted Forest, Pitlochry, have confirmed that the event will re-open to the public tonight, Saturday 21st October. So when I began reading The Enchanted Wood, all I had read was its title. Yep, you got me right. I hadn't even read the blurb. I mean, I had thought of reading it but then I thought, eh, it's an Enid Blyton book. I'll love it either way. So I didn't read it and jumped into it without a single thought in my mind. And guess what? I was not disappointed despite that! The supporting character Dame Slap has also become Dame Snap, and no longer practises corporal punishment but instead reprimands her students by shouting at them. [2] I loved those books so you can imagine how peed off I was when I discovered that the books have been edited to make them more politically correct!
