About this deal

Churnet Valley Railway is proud to be bringing the joy and spirit of Christmas to all the good boys and girls again this year. We’re

On arrival at the North Pole, you’ll catch a sighting of Santa’s sleigh, a bag of toys and a giant Christmas tree and, of course, the man himself, Santa who will present each passenger with their very own “First Gift of Christmas”, a silver bell from his sleigh. Although all the guests of the Polar Express in the film wear their pyjamas, it is not mandatory to wear your pyjamas for the Polar Express Kent. However, should you choose to do so we can guarantee you won’t be alone! Most of our passengers get into the Christmas spirit, with everything from matching family pyjamas to Christmas onesies and light up jumpers. Where to stay for the Polar Express Kent Location: Wensleydale Railway, Leeming Bar Station, Leases Road, Leeming Bar, Northallerton, DL7 9AR.

Is Polar Express Kent accessible?

On the train, there are other children wearing their pajamas, singing carols, eating candy and drinking hot cocoa. The train passes through towns and villages, followed by a cold, dark forest and then up mountains, never slowing down along the way. As it crosses the Great Polar Ice Cap, the children see lights in the distance, which the Conductor says is the North Pole. Finally, the train arrives at the North Pole, a city of Christmas toys factories. However, no elves are seen because, as the Conductor explains, they are gathering at the Square where Santa will give the first gift of Christmas to one of the children. The Artwork has been highly commended, and it is pleasing - but strangely muted. It appeals to adults, but to young children? There is a large element of nostalgia about the entire book. The pictures are not immediate in any sense. They are distance views, with even Santa's elves appearing as little smudges. There are two or three where the lighting is paramount, and it can be viewed as a theatrical set, with illuminated people, reindeer and buildings. These may well be more attractive to adults than to children. Yes, they glow. But does it feel magical?

We want our train ride to be accessible to all and are happy to provide additional assistance where it is needed. Contrary to its basis, the locomotive in this book has a 4-8-2 wheel arrangement, which means it has only 2 trailing wheels while the locomotive in the movie has a 2-8-4 wheel arrangement.

The train travels on the main line, making it unique in the UK. Birmingham has much to offer to visiting travellers. Why not combine your visit with another event? Birmingham hosts the largest German Christmas Market outside of Germany and Austria. In previous years there has also been a big wheel, an ice rink and of course Birmingham Hippodrome’s pantomime! We are not connected with this event. Polar Express Norfolk

The Polar Express Christmas train ride is based on a lovely Christmas story by Chris Van Allsburg (also one of the best Christmas movies for kids), The Polar Express. These Santa steam train journeys offer a fabulously festive Christmas family day out. Each passenger will receive a silver sleigh bell as a gift from Father Christmas who you will meet during the train ride.

A Conversation with Chris Van Allsburg by Anita Silvey | The Polar Express". polarexpress.com . Retrieved February 1, 2016. The next morning, the boy and his sister Sarah open their presents. Upon having opened nearly all of them, Sarah finds one more behind the tree. The boy opens it to find the silver bell with a note from Santa saying it fell into his sleigh. He shakes the bell to create a sound he and Sarah both enjoy, but neither his mother nor his father can hear it and remarks that it must be broken. The book ends with the following line:
