As someone who has been trawling Brickset's back catalogue of reviews for sets I missed in my dark ages, I foresee the summary box being even more valuable in retrospect. This version of the AT-ST is uninspired, looks wrong, and doesn’t deliver a lot of value for the things kids that do enjoy the movies are going to recognize. It’s size scales well vs Lego figures and the legs both move, along with the forward cannons, and the upper section rotates via a wheel mechanism to the rear. It was in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it-moment, but we’re all a bunch of Star Wars nerds here so we know that. Comparing this creation with 75153 AT-ST Walker exemplifies those significant changes, which remain unexplained in Star Wars canon.

Disappointedly, though, it’s also a real surprise to find the legs yet again don’t actually ‘walk’ and so this model, like all previous recent versions of the AT-ST, can’t really be played with properly. I know certain spares are normal and there isn’t any large pieces spare here but it just seems like a lot. I think the summary conveys my intended meaning, which is that I like the set and that it depicts an unusual subject, but I will keep your feedback in mind for next time. I ended up doing this on a lark because I was going down the LEGO aisle with my kids and mentioned I kind of missed doing reviews, but wasn’t even really sure what was out right now. It’s kind of funny, because they were famously ineffective in the scene they were in, until someone realized the Empire apparently never played any game involving jump ropes and your average ten year old boy.Diversity still could have been achieved by presenting fans with a female AT-ST driver instead, but really this is a small niggle in what is otherwise a great selection of minifigures.

This new set is a new model, with a differently designed body that reflects the difference between the Hoth Scout walkers and those used later on Endor. For example, "this set is deserving of notice and here's why" (followed by the bullet points of positives and negatives). Getting free samples introduces opportunities for both conscious and unconscious bias that adding this statement doesn't address.
