Within the range of shades, you will be able to find bright colours including: If your hair dye does not come with a paint brush, you can buy one at your local beauty supply store or just use your gloved fingers to apply the dye. Try to keep hair products and straightening/curling irons to a minimum: I know this is easier said than done but it really does help and it generally means you don’t need to wash your hair so frequently. Set a timer for how long you need to leave the dye in your hair. Follow the instructions on the box. Do not rinse the dye out before the minimum time or leave the dye in past the maximum time. Make sure to follow the directions exactly. If you have a lot of grey hair, it’s best to leave the dye in for the maximum amount of time. It may help to sit under a heated dryer, as well. Wash your hair 24 to 48 hours before dyeing. Doing this allows the natural oils in your hair to develop which in turn allows the dye to bind to your hair more easily. The dye will blend more naturally with your hair, and that tends to make it last longer. Use a tinting brush: highly recommended for the first application and if using more than one colour. It will help you to be more precise and achieve a good even coverage.

If you want a lighter shade or tone, try mixing Directions Hair Dye with White Toner or Colour Care Conditioner

Step 1 – Wash your hair

When applying multiple colours, make sure you keep separate shades clipped up and out of each other’s way.

We know you can't wait to get colouring, but always read the instructions that come with your chosen hair colour — even if you’ve used Directions before. Now it’s time to keep you, your clothes, your carpets and your belongings covered as best you can. While our colour’s long-lasting nature is great for your hair, it’s not so great when you’re trying to scrub it off the floor! We strongly recommend investing in a Mixing Bowl Tint Brush, Mixing Bowl and a pair of Latex Gloves to keep colour where you want it, and nowhere you don’t. Wait until the process time is up to rinse your hair. After your time is up, either get into the shower or use a sink to rinse your hair out. Use warm water to rinse the dye out of your hair.
