About this deal

Rainbow Grey: Eye of the Storm’ is Book 2 in Laura Ellen Anderson’s charming children’s fantasy about the adventures of Ray Rainbow Grey, who lives in the Weatherlands as part of a community of beings that control the weather. I do love (OK, maybe it is also a dash sad) that when a rainbow person goes bad/her magic is drained that their hair goes monochrome. Tornadia looked like a very funky Cruella de Vil. Accompanied by her friends, Ray heads to Earth to locate the lost crystals of Earth and Sky to complete the golden winged staff that she has inherited. While there they meet an English boy named Klaus Bottomly. Before too long Agent Nephia, head of the Bureau of Unexplained Meteorological Sightings (B.U.M.S. 😹), arrives to investigate. No further details to avoid spoilers. In ‘Rainbow Grey: Battle for the Skies by Laura Ellen Anderson the Weatherlands are under threat from Tornadia Twist – the greatest villain that ever lived . . . Rainbow (Ray) Grey has to discover what her ultimate magical gift is and use it to stop Tornadia before she destroys the Weatherlands and the Earth! Ray is getting used to life as Rainbow Grey – she now has ALL the magical weather powers at her fingertips, although she hasn’t quite mastered them yet!

When all of the cloud creatures start disappearing – including Ray’s own beloved cloud cat, Nim – Ray and her friends have a mystery to solve. Ray is sure that a dark magic is behind the disappearances. Can she work out what is going on before cloud magic is lost forever and Earth is destroyed by the ultimate storm . . .? Young Weatherlings are bonded to a cloud -creature that emerge from Puff Pods. These become their lifelong companions. Rainbow’s is Nim, the delightful cat cloud while her Dad has a whale-shaped cloud named Waldo. The second book in a magical new series from best-selling author and illustrator, Laura Ellen Anderson!Amid all this action – and the farting-cloud-cat silliness you’d expect from the creator of the bestselling Amelia Fang books – is a book that lets in quieter moments too, and really focuses on the friendship between Ray and her pals Snowden and Droplett. Indeed, the end message is very much about how love, hope and togetherness will always triumph and give a person a strength they didn’t think they had. I love that Ray had such wonderful friends and that they never gave up on her, kept on believing her. They were wonderful. Though Droplett should learn not to splash everyone, I just felt for their other friend and his constant soggy (almost want to put a GIF from Mary Berry here) sandwich. I did love that competition she was captain of though, that seems like such a cool thing to do and I wish I had weather magic! Rainbow Grey may be only ten years old but the future of the whole world depends on her! It's up to Ray to defeat Tornadia Twist - the greatest villain that ever lived . . . The newest book from Laura Ellen Anderson, and it took me a bit to read (got the book end of March and it took me till the mid of June before I started reading) but here we are! As soon as I started I couldn’t stop. It was just that well-written.

I appreciated Beth Easdown’s narration as she utilises her vocal skills to portray a wide range of characters. In addition, her comic timing is excellent. While aimed at readers aged 7-10 years, I feel that Anderson’s books will appeal to young at heart readers of all ages. Since discovering her Amelia Fang series, I have combined the ebooks with the unabridged audiobook editions as I love her quirky art work as well as her storytelling skills.Ten-year-old Ray Grey lives in the magical Weatherlands, high in the sky! She is surrounded by Weatherlings with astounding weather power at their fingertips … but poor Ray doesn't have ANY magic! She is transformed from Ray Grey intro RAINBOW GREY! With the help of her best friends (and exploding cloud cat, Nim) now all Ray has to do is master her powers AND save the world from the ultimate storm … This was Book 3 in Laura Ellen Anderson ‘s Rainbow Grey series. It is a brilliant illustrated magical adventure intended for readers 7-10 years old, though I feel that Anderson’s books will appeal to readers of all ages.
