About this deal

Richard Osman skilfully weaves each strand of the plot together, drawing every single character into the main arena so you’re never quite sure what to expect next. Exploding onto the amateur detective scene with as much vitality and enthusiasm as four old age pensioners can muster (and it’s a lot! After parting ways , Joyce shares with us in her journal that although learning to navigate Instagram has been fun, she really wishes something exciting would happen again. Her heart is pure gold but she isn’t above a bit of gentle persuasion and coercion as Ibrahim knows only too well!

In this one in particular, there's a bit of violence and a number of dead bodies and I just felt like, well, I don't think real people would continue to go along.

I don’t know, it’s hard to decide but I have a real soft spot for him and a warning for others who do too, he definitely suffers in this book. As for characters it’s pointless trying to pick a favourite when the author spoils you for choice but I’m going to anyway!

The impetus to this adventure is Elizabeth receiving a letter from an old colleague/flame, who finds himself in a bit of a bind and is hoping for her assistance. oh, and Joyce trying to figure out Instagram (I dare you not to laugh when you find out her username).

If he’d been walking with Ibrahim, he’d have straightened out the hooligans on the spot, and they would have stayed straightened out.
