I had an absolute blast with this book, all the characters are a lot of fun, with their own quirks they bring to the story. And Owen’s trademark Twitter wit comes to play in this book too - David I hope you narrate the audiobook version!

The otters were just adorable, the thieving seagull was very amusing, and Kraken the blue octopus was just wonderful! A lovely story with an important message about protecting our oceans and how humans can impact our environment.

I was absolutely howling with laughter at some parts of this as the sense of humour is just so on point, which I was kind of expecting, to be honest, given that David is hilarious on Twitter!I think maybe on a couple of occasions the moment wasn't right, or it fell flat but for the most part it was solid. This was followed by The Fallen Children (May 2017, Atom, Little, Brown), which, through a clever, contemporary YA reinterpretation of John Wyndham’s classic The Midwich Cookoos. Loving the sprayed edge ♥️ - it’s certainly one that if you like the sound of the plot (or know a kid who does! Alex and his friends set out to free the creature, making some very interesting discoveries along the way.

First of all I have been following David’s work for years and I am so happy that he has tried his hand at children’s/MG as well as YA - and that this book looks to be blowing up in a good way!
