Thanks for the replies guys I knew when i posted this it was going too be a bit like marmite some hate some like and i do agree with people about seeing how it will last after a few more sessions as i have said i have a couple of shimano reels two okuma reels plus an older penn 750 and in the past have tried daiwa,Mitchell and quantum reels in fact my spinning reel is a Mitchell Avocet Gold 3 Reel 2000 which has near perfect line lay and is in fact better then the more expensive okuma salwater trio that is built for spinning and too be honest i would never suggest too anyone to go out and buy the surfblaster 8000 as after previous experience with the penn 850 not even lasting a year of fishing and i agree with a lot of people when they say penn has a very bad image too get rid espically towards there reels the intresting thing is under the umbrella of pure fishing are Mitchell,Pflueger,Sebile,Abu Garcia and Shakespeare all good equipment suppliers in there day and as far as i no still are. First cast out with surfblaster i was very suprised how easy the line flowed off the spool and how much further i was getting in my cast now i dont make any claims to be a great caster or too get silly distances but i do believe i was getting at last 10 yrds extra with this reel with simple over the head cast. The upgraded PENN Surfblaster III 7000 & 8000 Long Cast Fixed Spool Reels are a perfect choice for all surf casting situations over clean or mixed rough ground. The slow oscillation provides excellent line lay enabling ultra long casting performance with mono or braid lines. I loaded the second spool with 15lb 0.37mm daiwa sensor but be carefull here as this does eat up a lot of line, capacity stated on the reel is 340m of 0.40mm line personally i would say this is slightly under stated.

Included is a spare deep spool, making sure you will always have the correct line with you for every fishing condition. Attached to the rod, it is noticeable that the reel is heavy, but it is not a major issue, and the balance wasn’t such a problem. That said, I wouldn’t like to be holding a rod in the surf for long periods.
