Episode 8 –For episode eight the theme was Music and Movies week, making garments inspired by the silver screen. The challenges included making a dress inspired by Baby from Dirty Dancing, adapting old curtains into play clothes for children, just like Julie Andrews’s Maria in The Sound of Music, and a made-to-measure disco era outfit inspired by the movie Dreamgirls. Sara: "Last year I was pregnant during filming, but I can’t blame it on the hormones this time. This series they’re such a tight group, so it was harder than ever to tell them they were going home. In a way I want them to be more competitive, but they’re always so sweet and helpful to each other. I want it to be a bit juicy like Love Island, so I can stir things up!" Sara: "Well, they’re both experts, so if I pipe up I’m ignored and rightly so. I give a little prediction before they say anything and my instincts are always wrong. The person I thought was going home would win garment of the week! I just look at the pretty dresses, whereas they're looking at, you know, actual sewing!" In the pattern challenge they all make the same garment, using the same paper pattern. For the upcycling challenge, they must turn an existing item of clothing into something completely new in only 90 minutes. In the final most challenging task, they must create a perfect garment, sewn to fit a model. Sewing Bee Episode 7 Guide (semi-final) – This week was all about puzzling patterns pattern cutting. The first task was to sew a asymmetric skirt inspired by Japanese pattern cutting. In the refashioning challenge, the contestants has to create a garment from a duvet and use all the fabric. In the final challenge, the contestants had to draft their own pattern and fit it to a model.
