About this deal

READ NEXT: The best cordless vacuum cleaners to buy today Shark Anti Hair Wrap with Flexology IZ201UKC review: How well does it clean? The Shark IZ300UKT is Shark’s latest cordless vacuum cleaner. Introduced in late 2021, it comes with a number of new features, chief among which is a new brush roller, which is lined not only with bristles but also “PowerFins” – stiff fabric flaps, arranged in a chevron, that agitate the fibres in your carpet much more vigorously than a brush alone. This vacuum cleaner comes in about average for noise, at 67.5dB on Eco, 72.6dB on Standard and 75.6dB on Turbo. You can clearly hear the Shark ICZ300UKT and can’t really hold conversations over it, but it isn’t so loud as to be annoying. While raw power tells us a bit about a vacuum cleaner, real-world performance will largely come down to the quality of the accessories. Fortunately, Shark didn’t let me down.

This wand has an articulating elbow that allows the vacuum to be folded up and stored upright, and it also allows you to more easily vacuum under low furniture. There’s a large display on top of the handle that shows the battery level and the power mode you’re using. It’s definitely easier to waft about on hard floors, but if anything, the resistance you feel on carpet is a testament to how deep it’s cleaning. It might not beat our favorite Dyson cleaners, but the slight drop in price compared to the V15 may push it just ahead in your eyes. Rival cordless vacs don’t feature removable batteries, so you have to charge the whole thing where you store it. Fine if your cupboard has a three-pin plug in it, not so much if it doesn’t. Each battery takes four hours to charge from flat. Moving on to the hard floor test, the Shark ICZ300UKT impressed. Its floor head is a DuoClean model, which means that it has a hard floor roller built-in; there’s no changing floor heads to move between surfaces, as you do with a Dyson. The Shark Anti Hair Wrap with Flexology cordless vacuum cleaner is a good option for houses with mixed floor types. It uses Shark’s DuoClean motorised floor head, which has both a standard carpet brush and a soft roller (for hard floors) built into the same unit, so you don’t have to keep switching the floor head as you move from one surface type to another. In the box there’s a good assortment of accessories, including a crevice tool, a dusting brush and an upholstery tool. The supplied charger plugs directly into the battery unit, which is easily removed so you can choose whether to charge it in situ or separately from the cleaner.

On top of the vacuum is a screen with three buttons below it, all of which fall easily under the thumb. The middle button switches the vacuum on and off. The button on the left toggles between carpet and hard floor modes (the rollers in the floor head spin faster in carpet mode), and the button on the right cycles between the device’s three power modes: Eco, Standard and Boost. The dust bin on the Shark Stratos IZ420UKT is fairly small, at 0.8litres, meaning that those looking to clean areas that are far away from their main bin might struggle. On the flip side, I think that making the capacity any bigger risks ruining the sleek feel of this vacuum, and I'm happy that SHark has kept it smaller. If manoeuvrability is key for you, the Eufy HomeVac S11 Infinityand Dyson Micro 1.5kgare both much easier to handle.
