About this deal

Overall, All the Tides of Fate was a magnificent (and heartbreaking) ending to a series that I love so much. The characters in this story are some of my favorites of all time, and I already miss them endlessly! The steady thumping of the drums is more intense than it was earlier; every beat clatters my bones while the hollow rattling of percussion fills my chest. The air pulses with energy and laughter, warm with the scent of richly spiced pork and roasted honey plums. THE BOOK WAS FILLED WITH TROPES and although they aren't all bad, it just made the storyline somewhat predictable. Some things about the ending surprised me but others were definitely obvious.

I’ve had people tell me to “hold that book further away, you can do it” and “you’re faking”. Oh, and another beauty: “have enough faith and God will heal your eyes”. Get in the bin. To sexytimes or not to sexytimes?

I am Amora Montara, Princess of Visidia, and I will be the future High Animancer. I am the right choice. The only choice. And I will protect my kingdom.” There will not be any ARCs for Wisteria, either digital or physical. My team and I really want to keep everything a surprise, and have everyone read it simultaneously once it's released :) No one outsi We have covers!! And our first set of updates! The ocean’s brine coats my tongue and I savor its grit. Late summer’s heat has beaten the sea into submission; it barely sways as I stand against the starboard ledge. There wasn't much to the plot honestly. I wanted to see some gripping action sequences and more magic because that's what I loved about the first book, it introduced such a unique magic system that was unfortunately left unexplored. I am,” I say, though the words are bolder than I feel. Because even as the king’s only child, my people will not simply hand me the crown and let me lead out of birthright. Here, in the kingdom of Visidia, I must first prove myself to them if I’m to earn the title of heir. And I’m to do it by showing them a proper demonstration of Aridian magic; the magic shared only through the blood of the Montara family.

In the island kingdom of Visidia, where each person is allowed just one type of magic, only the members of the royal Montara family have the ability to wield the dangerous soul magic. Princess Amora is next in line to be High Animancer, but she must first prove to her people that she is powerful enough to use her magic to protect them. But something goes terribly wrong during a critical public ceremony, and Amora runs away with dashing pirate Bastian, whose rescue comes with a price: She must help him recover his own magic, stolen away by a dangerous man leading a growing rebellion that could bring down the whole kingdom. Debut author Grace wields her own magic with a skillful balancing act between high-stakes adventure (here there be monsters, mermaids, and high-seas shenanigans), bloody fantasy, and character development in a story with a lovable found family at its core. Amora yearns for adventure just as she welcomes her right to command her kingdom; her ferocious sense of duty and legitimate need to do good shine through. The novel’s further unravelling of dark secrets long kept comes with a recognized need for accountability and making amends which adds a thoughtful extra layer to the rich worldbuilding. Amora has copper-brown skin and dark, curly hair; other characters have a range of skin tones in this diverse world. If you like those stories and aren’t in the market for anything particularly new, then totally read this one. It’s not a bad book, and many of you will love it. I just wasn’t one of those people. I loved the romance and the tension. It felt like book one all over again, which is great. We're presented with new obstacles and an almost brand new story-line. The friendships are sweet but made of glass, and Amora has to learn to trust herself and others if she wants to meet her goal. All the Stars and Teeth is a dark fantasy story about a kingdom named Visidia. In this archipelagic society, each island specializes in a particular kind of magic (there are seven in total). Amora Montara, the MC, is a special snowflake because she and the other royals of Arida are the only practitioners of soul magic, which enables them to kill criminals in very creative ways. Amora is basically a glorified witch who can harm others by cursing various body parts, including their teeth and bones. And before she inherits her father's throne, she has to prove her magical prowess.Instinctively, my hand goes to the leather satchel resting on my hip. The contents inside clatter as I touch their rigid edges. Imagine my satisfaction when she realized her family's role in the destruction of Visidia. King Cato, her exalted ancestor, was a power-hungry jerk with an annoying inferiority complex. Because of him, the Montara bloodline was cursed, learning multiple magics was forbidden, and soul magic lost its purity. So if anyone deserved to sit on the throne, it wasn't the Montaras. This is just conjecture. Musings… Questions to which I’d love the answer. Perhaps I’m too used to interviewing authors? Melodrama I read and really enjoyed All the Stars and Teeth last year. It felt like a brand new idea, an original magic system and the pace was fast on account of the adventure element as well as the mystery of both Bastian and her fathers secrets about the kingdom. I remember speeding through it and raving about it as one of my favourite books of 2021. Tighten the grip of your left hand.” Father’s voice is distant, but I do as he says. The ship creaks in response.

Mira offers me a cloak that looks as though it’s been drenched in melted sapphires and dusted with starlight. She hooks it to my gown, just below the shoulders, and my breath catches. It glistens like the sun reflecting off dark water and stains my fingertips with shimmer as I brush them across the soft fabric. As princess of the island kingdom Visidia, Amora Montara has spent her entire life training to be High Animancer — the master of souls. The rest of the realm can choose their magic, but for Amora, it’s never been a choice. To secure her place as heir to the throne, she must prove her mastery of the monarchy’s dangerous soul magic. I really liked the magic systems used here. I wouldn't say they are wholly original or mind-blowing by any means, but they also didn't feel like complete carbon copies of all the other fantasy systems out there. I especially enjoyed the darker nature of Amora's magic. Because blood and stabby-ness always make this girl's day.
