There's nothing especially outstanding about the list but it's challenging enough to make Lydia think. Following a bucket list and all the adventures and twists and turns along the way make this book a romance novel with a difference. She ends up losing her home and moving in with her mother feeling very lonely as her daughter flies off for her year abroad. This part of Lily’s bucket list was my absolute favourite, probably because of what happens afterwards, and my smile was huge!

Fun, uplifting, heart-warming and utterly beautiful (and I’m not just saying that because Katherine is from my neck of the woods! This is a book with a bit of everything, humour, sadness, misunderstandings and an ending I really loved.

One thing that really stood out to me as I got into this book was the personalities of everyone we meet. Despite there being a theme of positivity and making the most of life in this book, I also felt a bit stressed about Lydia’s journey – Jake thinks she is Lily Bennett and that they’ll be making their way through the bucket list that she wrote! Even though this breaks her heart, it was around this point in the book where it’s clear that Adam isn’t really good for Lydia at all.Although this is a holiday romance book in style and therefore comes complete with a predictable ending, it did not disappoint, it was funny and thoroughly enjoyable! From horse-riding to jumping off that terrifying 10m diving board, the adventures keep coming, some pushing Lydia further than she’s ever been pushed before, others a complete awe-inspiring experience.

She has tried internet dating, but still loving her husband, hasn’t succeeded in finding a new partner. The more time she spends with Jake, the more comfortable she feels and the more she reveals about her life. As they work their way through the nine items on the list, she (with the love and support of her daughter and their extended hilarious family) begins to see that she has allowed herself to become “grey”, taking a backseat to life (and her husband). I couldn’t put this book down, and sadly ended up so lost in the story I didn’t get around to doing things I’d planned with my day, as I was so hooked.
