About this deal

Pre-programmed settings - Intelligent settings help your grinder achieve perfect results regardless of how fine or coarse you require your beans. We only work with roasters who share the same ethos and ask you to get in touch if for any reason the recycling info isn't clear on a coffee bag. Their range of smart appliances, which includes kettles, toasters, and blenders, through to their ice cream maker and microwaves, has been exactingly considered to give you perfect results every time, all at the push of a button. Our electric coffee grinder models with stainless steel conical burr grinding mechanism is are designed to minimise grind heat and protect essential oils where fresh coffee flavour resides.

If you do have a question, the best way to contact me is to comment below, I always respond to comments as quickly as I can. The hopper doesn't give any protection from oxygen or from fluctuations in temperature and humidity. It has a pair of 40mm stainless steel conical burrs, as do most of the other cheaper grinders on the market. Stainless Steel conical burr grinder efficiently designed to minimize grinding heat and protect the essential oils in the coffee bean. You can mod them to add a worm drive adjustment, but if you have a look for the Lelit Fred, this is essentially the same machine already modded, although these kinds of grinders aren’t as good for jumpming from one brew type to the other.Don't do what most people do, which is to open your beans and empty them into the hopper as soon as you get them, and leave them in there until you run out. Java, Blue Mountain, Columbian or Ethiopian… if it’s a bespoke blend you’re after, the Smart Grinder will precisely measure and freshly grind to your specification.

But I first wrote my Sage Smart Grinder Pro review back in 2016, which at the time of writing is nearly 8 years ago! Ended up giving the grinder and SDB to a friend when I upgraded- figured I had got my money’s worth! This is the aforementioned internal burr adjustment, and it's such a clever, and useful feature, and one I very rarely hear anyone talking about. The Haus self has been discontinued by the manufacturer, and I’ve not heard of it until now, I can’t find any reviews for it, so it would seem a bit of an unknown entity. Friendly Coffee Fund: We give back 1% of all sales to our coffee fund which supports coffee growing communities. It also offers precision digital timing and an LCD display to help you get the most out of every grind. I didn't actually break it, though… I'll explain later what had happened, now that I understand what I'd done, but I thought I'd broken it. I'd ruled out blade grinders, my coffee knowledge definitely wasn't what it is now, but I knew enough by that point to know that while blade grinders are better than nothing, it was a burr grinder I needed.

I'd seen the Dose Control Pro from Sage, the slightly cheaper sibling of the Smart Grinder Pro, which was tempting, but I just really liked the look of the Smart Grinder Pro, and I'd seen that the power of the motor was slightly smaller on the Dose Control Pro (130W Vs 165W). Some of my longer product reviews start out with a few weeks of using the machine before I start writing the review, but I type fast, so I'll usually have a review written within a day or two.Get a free bag of our freshly roasted 2022 Great Taste award winning Colombian Jazz coffee beans when you purchase a Sage grinder. The Baratza Forte for example, the BG version with the stainless steel burrs, is a stonking grinder for manual brew, which I think is fair to say will out-compete the Smart Grinder pro. Each coffee will have a slightly different grind size and the age of the coffee will also affect the end result.

I can’t remember if I programmed the extraction time when I first configured the EC685, but it is about 30s. So my opinion with hoppers is to use them as temporary storage only and keep your beans in air-tight storage, preferably in a cool and relatively dark location (such as a cupboard, or on the moon, whichever is easiest). It's plenty quick enough for me, when I was using it as my daily driver for manual brew (mainly Aeropress) and for espresso, I never had an issue with grinding speed. I don't think it's possible to grind hard coffee beans silently, but the sound of the smart grinder pro grinding is not at all a deafening noise, in fact, I don't find it to be loud at all, and the aforementioned hopper lid gasket I think is partly to thank for that.

The Sage Dose Control Pro Grinder can make life easier no matter which coffee machine or brewing method you use. Grinders that can cope with much harder beans often have a much higher powered motor, and a gearing system that transforms the motor power into torque, and all of the componentry would usually (hopefully) be sturdy enough to cope with grinding much lighter roasted beans. The reason for this is that the environment, whether it's in your kitchen or in your office, isn't the best place for coffee beans – and if the beans are in your hopper, they're in your environment.
