About this deal

You might have seen a review or two of this printer on other channels from a couple of months ago, but this is the newest iteration, the v4. With a couple of electrical plug connections you can be up and printing in as little as 20 minutes from the time you receive the printer and open the box. In light of the fact that the whole assembly is cooled by this particular fan, it indeed is a quiet and efficient one.

Once your tray is set up, it is also advisable to print the sample template on the USB key supplied with the printer. Before starting your first print, you need to check the level of the tray, you can do this with a sheet of A4 paper, I’m not going to detail this procedure, you can easily find tutorials on the Internet, or read my other reviews in which I explain this procedure, nothing too complicated ! After a few quality control issues, Artillery has now released its 4th revision of the Sidewinder X1, which claims to address all of the quality control issues in the first versions. Flat surfaces are quite smooth on the calibration cube indicating that the extruder was pushing filament quite consistently. After 4 previous attempts to purchase a 3D printer, this was the first that came with Quality Control check labels on it, which was a great comfort.if I wrote this review as soon as I got it I would have given it 5 stars but what I know now it gets 2. Artillery was among the first manufacturers to release a mostly assembled 3D printer and boasted of its quick assembling time. However, Artillery has hot glued the connectors to the control board, requiring users to melt the glue before removing cables.

This 3D printer would be good for both entry-level and experienced makers as well as some small businesses because it can print dimensionally accurate hard-to-break parts. The stepper motor drivers were developed to reduce the amount of Idle Current through the motor windings to reduce the artifact effects on the objects exterior surfaces. Not because the bed is hard to level (quite the contrary, the bed is rock solid) but because i am used to auto leveling and it makes my life a lot easier. But the fact that they apparently downgraded this stuff or didn’t properly validate for use – I don’t know, that doesn’t sit right with me. Besides, it offers impressive heating speed and can heat up to 60°C in just 50 seconds and reach 100°C in less than two and a half minutes. A direct drive extruder significantly improves the reliability of the 3D printer, especially with flexible filaments. When printing with TPU, we found that the Sidewinder X1 could print with the flexible filament at 30mm/s with no issues.

Autant ma 1ere SW X1 a fait son temps, la 2e ne fonctionne plus avec votre super système de nappe qui s’abîme en un temps record mais là, le plateau creux qui accroche la feuille aux 4 coins et qui laisse 1mm au centre. A unique feature of the Artillery Sidewinder X1 is its use of ribbon cables to connect its various electrical components, such as the stepper motors and hotend.

Here is another print, this time with orange PLA filament from Sunlu, at 200° with a layer height of 0. Artillery is a relatively young Shenzhen-based additive manufacturing company that was established in 2018. However, we feel that the additional weight is a worthy tradeoff for its increased rigidity and increased print quality. I did not have any issues when printing but i would like to see an upgraded cooling solution in the future.
