Whenever any theme is applied to a tarot deck there is a risk that the basic structure of tarot will be overwhelmed, leaving a collection of images with no underlying meaning holding them together. The Court cards are my least favorite part of this deck, but for me that’s pretty par for the course.

My feeling is that reading these cards gives to allow new potential a different perspective and although the artist may have been given mandate to follow some precepts it is clear that not all the cards link especially easily with tradition. The designers have done an impressive job keeping the meanings and portrayal of each card close to tradition, whilst giving each card an extra layer of meaning, so anyone with a basic knowledge of RWS should have no problem transferring their knowledge to this deck. The New Mythic Tarot will likely find the same though naturally many will prefer the original offering. The artwork is fresh clean and vibrant the cards appear simple and each illustration has the title written clearly above the lines are exact and there is a good deal of detail to work with.
