About this deal

In 1801 Thomas Young proposed his trichromatic theory, based on the observation that any color could be matched with a combination of three lights. This theory was later refined by James Clerk Maxwell and Hermann von Helmholtz. As Helmholtz puts it, "the principles of Newton's law of mixture were experimentally confirmed by Maxwell in 1856. Young's theory of color sensations, like so much else that this marvelous investigator achieved in advance of his time, remained unnoticed until Maxwell directed attention to it." [4] In pursuit of their dreams, and later of each other, they pit themselves against some of the island's most hostile terrain. These are the sequences in the novel that will stay with you. Buildings collapse without warning in the heat, or are entirely scoured away by drought and wind. Terrible snows and floods arrive suddenly, with disastrous consequences.

While our colour preferences play a huge part in how we decorate our homes, colour psychology suggests we should be factoring in the nature of the room we’re decorating – what we do in it, how we want to feel in it, etc – and choose colours accordingly.I'm one of those very superficial people for whom the setting of a novel is critical. I don't like, or am bored by, the country/city/region where the characters are flung, I don't read the book. The secondary colours are the first three colours that are made from mixing two primary colours together. Red Waldman, Gary (2002). Introduction to light: the physics of light, vision, and color. Mineola: Dover Publications. p.193. ISBN 978-0486421186. As you can see from the colour wheel, there are 'warm' and 'cool' colours within it. These can be used to your benefit depending on where the light and sun flows into your home. Ruth Mottershead, creative director, Little Greene, explains:

Their marriage is troubled from the start for reasons that will eventually be revealed: “She thought that perhaps what she longed to hear was that almost every life was arranged like this, around a void where love should have been and was not, and that her predicament was therefore an ordinary one.” Listed below are colour combinations that will help you choose colours that complement each other. Complementary Colours The familiar colors of the rainbow in the spectrum—named using the Latin word for appearance or apparition by Isaac Newton in 1671—include all those colors that can be produced by visible light of a single wavelength only, the pure spectral or monochromatic colors. The table at right shows approximate frequencies (in terahertz) and wavelengths (in nanometers) for spectral colors in the visible range. Spectral colors have 100% purity, and are fully saturated. A complex mixture of spectral colors can be used to describe any color, which is the definition of a light power spectrum. The harsh first winter brings with it problems which threaten the viability of their farm, but Joseph's chance finding of gold in the nearby creek changes the situation. Not telling Harriet about the find, Joseph abandons the farm and travels by boat to Hokitika on the West Coast of the South Island where major gold strikes have occurred. Most light sources emit light at many different wavelengths; a source's spectrum is a distribution giving its intensity at each wavelength. Although the spectrum of light arriving at the eye from a given direction determines the color sensation in that direction, there are many more possible spectral combinations than color sensations. In fact, one may formally define a color as a class of spectra that give rise to the same color sensation, although such classes would vary widely among different species, and to a lesser extent among individuals within the same species. In each such class, the members are called metamers of the color in question. This effect can be visualized by comparing the light sources' spectral power distributions and the resulting colors. I would recommend always testing colours by painting samples onto a piece of A4 paper first, that way you can move them around the room to see how they perform in varying lights.' For me, the primary theme of this book is in fact love. What it does to us. How it can both destroy us and make life worth living. Their are several different love stories found in this novel. Each love relationship has a different story to tell. Each one was distinct and special in its own way. This is where you take a base colour and change only the hue, tone and shade. It is a very conservative choice that produces harmonious colour palettes. Triad or triadic harmony

These are three equidistant colours on the colour wheel. This rule creates a highly contrasting palette that is not as strong (or risky) as using complementary colours in your composition. Ich interessiere mich sehr für Geschichte, doch leider gibt es viel zu wenige anspruchsvolle historische Romane. Die Farbe der Träume stellt eine dieser Ausnahmen dar.
