Today, even much more affordable (and frankly, less good) Wellers like Antique are marked up and hard to find, as demand works its way down the food chain. It’s pleasant enough for a sipper, but remember this bourbon was basically made to compete with Maker’s Mark entry-level 90 proof bourbonas a cheap, wheated bourbon. The only reason why people rush to this one is because of the “Pappy Effect.” The Weller aged 12 years and Antique 107 are good bottles of the Weller lineup, but the William Larue Weller is the best Weller bourbon expression. W. L. Weller 19 year was bottled at 90 proof. It was released only for the 2000, 2001, and 2002 Antique Collections.
