Two important things to note: painting on your panels will nullify the warranty and if you do not seal the paint with a rust-resistant top coat then your bed may be more susceptible to corrosion. There are different options for what paint to use, so you should search up which paints work best for powder coated metal to decide which you prefer! Before you start painting, make sure you clean the surface and sand it lightly with fine grain sandpaper to make the surface easier for paint to grip to. Make sure you use a metal paint primer as a base and a rust-resistant final coat spray to seal everything in. Share pictures with us if you want, we'd love to see!

The benefit of a portable raised bed is that it can be moved to a sheltered location in bad weather. Large planters or pots offer the same benefits. Fixing wheels to your planter like the model pictured above will make moving it around your patio exceptionally easy. For the corner bed, I didn’t actually build an entire other bed; instead, I used 2 boards, cut each in half, created the corner, and screwed it to the other two beds to form an L. Integrating a trellis into your raised bed will maximise production and create more space. Plants that can be grown on trellises include vegetables such as pole beans, peas, tomatoes and cucumbers. Some trellises are permanently attached to the raised bed, while others can be installed temporarily and taken down in the winter months. Hey, that’s me! Finally this weekend i got to planting at last and while doing so I noticed that the tops aren't fit for purpose. They are starting to split along their length. The instructions ask you to saw the top bit off which for a luxury item like this is disappointing. Why not sent correctly sized plugs?

You can make these longer if you have to concern yourself with frost or whatever (in Georgia that’s not really a thing I think much about), but I know my friend Kit from DIY Diva cuts hers to 19 inches and lives in freezing cold Michigan, if that helps! Secondly the holes underneath the top pieces were drilled out badly and for the end two holes, incorrectly! The end two holes in each top piece don't take into account the the base of the plug that sits on top of the metal brace leaving a small gap. Why are these not drilled out correctly, it makes the whole thing look odd.
