About this deal

My PC > WireWorld Ultraviolet 7 > iFi Audio iPurifier 2 > Topping EX5 > Neo by Oyaide d+ XLR (Class B) XLR to XLR > Genelec 8010a Double filtering. This works best if your analogue phone lines are all filtered in one localised place, however you can double filter from the VDSL panel. Double filtering is a second ADSL / VDSL filter in series, if you have a problem phone or fax machine this can sometimes make a difference. Mains Conditioners help reduce Radio Frequency Interference and so help to enhance the sound and/or picture quality by reducing interference. The Tacima CS947 uses sophisticated filtering that uses high frequency capacitors and a single choke to suppress both symmetrical and asymmetrical mains interference. In addition to this, the mains cable is also thoroughly screened to help eliminate the effects of radiated noise interference. DSD cannot be used with digital volume control,I don't know how the EX5 does it thought,if it's analog OK but if it's digital it should be at 100% to play DSD properly. My PC (Asus PRIME B660-PLUS D4) > WireWorld Ultraviolet 7 > iFi Audio iPurifier 2 (USB Purifier) > iFi Audio nano iDSD (first version) > Neo by Oyaide d+ RXM (Class B) RCA to XLR > Genelec 8010a

Tacima CS947 | 6-Way Mains Conditioner with Surge Protection

So I finally figured out what is going on with these noises, which I can’t really believe, it is some radio signal interference from my iPhone XR when sometimes it receives signals while close to the XLR connectors…Anyway, 'nuff said. I am content with mine but appreciate not everyone will feel the same and in rare cases, may even feel the Tacima had a negative effect. If I remember correctly, you once posted a photo of your desk with speakers sitting directly on the desk, no stands and no isolation foam.

Tacima CS947 review | What Hi-Fi?

Pressing the button briefly should illuminate a Green Status Light , indicating the Mains Conditioner filter is operational , has not been damaged or seriously degraded and all layers of protection are intact Either way, I would recommend getting one, especially as the price has dropped to a little over 20 pounds and it DOES make a noticeable difference. If you wish to return your item to Robert Dyas, you can do so by the following method: 1. Request a Collection via Robert Dyas Customer Services Have a look at the 2nd review down in the list and take the last sentence "I liked it so much I bought a second one as I got fed up transfering the first one between the hifi and home-cinema" and put it into google:Don't think WHSV 'stopped doing technical testing': as far as I know the magazine has never done any form of technical testing. Clearly they think it's irrelevant, can't afford/can't be bothered to do it, or would rather spin invisible clothes out of fiction. Prevents the mains lead from acting as an aerial so injecting interference into your system Filter Status Test Great product works both on improving sound quality of CD Player, amplifier, sub woofer and surprisingly slightly improved picture on Sony 4K TV. Best used with adjacent Tacima SC5723 Mains Conditioning Plug together they “smooth out” the top end and reveal more detail and lower the noise floor and allow individual vocals and instruments to emerge from a “Wall of Sound”. Less distortion. Great product works both on improving sound quality of CD Player, amplifier, sub woofer and surprisingly slightly improved picture on Sony 4K TV. Less distortion. In addition I plug the Gigaset DECT phones into the same Tacima mains conditioner the Router / Modem is using. The reason for this is a mains spike could enter the DECT phone via it's transformer, travel down the phone line, pass the ADSL/VDSL filter, and still enter the router via this route.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: democracy simply-doesn't-work.... ..... ...... ...... ................... ..... ..... ..... ..... .....Treble sounds are slightly thinned out, with a little less body than before the Tacima is introduced. The soundstage loses a little of its expansiveness, but the overall gains in midrange dynamics, detail preservation and overall timing more than make up for it. Verdict

Basic things that could improve your ADSL / VDSL connection. Basic things that could improve your ADSL / VDSL connection.

I have had Tacimas for some years, with varying results, mostly positive (as mentioned in my OP) but on the whole, it really is a fantastic, cheap and useful addition to many peoples systems. Mains Conditioners aid in the reduction of mains borne Radio Frequency Interference and so help to enhance the sound and/or picture quality . I'm all for blowing my money on hifi but I'm curious about how big a difference main conditioner make to your system, I use a cheap one myself and noticed a nice improvement in sound quality but are the more expensive ones worth it? By the way, forget the 'it sapped power' comments sometimes mentioned in conjunction with Tacimas. That really seems impossible but it does take some harshness/grain out of the sound which some may feel equates to very slightly subduing dynamics. It doesn't but if your system already sounds soft and reticent a Tacima may not prove beneficial other than being practical and provide surge protection.Independent customer view's are, for me anyway, more preferable than manufacturer claim's as they provide at least the "common touch" bought and tried by unconnected person's, not everyone can work for Tacima!! So far I haven't had any from the various switches round the house, although when I switch my PC (the source) on or off (it's plugged into the same mains conditioner) I still get a thump. I don't know why that is... I just switch off the amp before the PC and problem solved. I'm sure they do have some effect on mains noise and, as you say, if you have terrible mains that could be a benefit. Whether any of that noise would ever get past the power supply electrolytics is at least a doubtful proposition but if it did would it have the effects that people claim (like better separation).
