About this deal

Super writing, great character development. As always Baldacci continues to write a well thought out novel of twists, turns and suspense. He is known for his meticulous research, often traveling to locations featured in his books to ensure accuracy. It was inside the other house, behind one of the windows. He didn’t know if it was reflecting off the glass or what. He started his career by writing his very first novel absolute power which was made to the public in the year 1996! The thing to consider about him is that he loves animals a lot! And that is the reason in his house which is in northern Virginia he has two dogs! Baldacci is a two-time recipient of the International Thriller Writers’“Thriller Master” award, the highest honor given by the organization.

He got to the window where he’d seen the spark. He could now smell it, which confirmed his suspicions.

This is the fourth book in the Memory Man series and while not my favorite it was entertaining and timely. It turns out that Baronville is suffering from massive unemployment because coal mining and related industries have dried up. Moreover, the opioid epidemic has hit the town hard. Many Baronville citizens are addicts, and overdoses are common. PLEASE This is an unofficial companion book to David Baldacci's popular novel "The Fallen (Memory Man series Book 4)" - it is meant to enhance your reading experience and it is not the original book.

The story itself was complex as well. There were, in fact, a few parallel storylines going in the book, and, at times, I had trouble keeping them apart. There were really a lot of things going on compared to the shadow of a town that the place has become over the years. But, I guess, if you’re searching for trouble and poking the bee’s nest, you will definitely find it. Along with his brain change, his personality had changed as well. The gregarious fun-loving prankster had forever vanished and in its place - And the dead woman is identified as Anne Berkshire, a substitute teacher at a Catholic school and a volunteer for a local hospice. David Baldacci has been writing since childhood, when his mother gave him a lined notebook in which to write down his stories. (Much later, when David thanked her for being the spark that ignited his writing career, she revealed that she’d given him the notebook to keep him quiet, "because every mom needs a break now and then.”)

And all this happens in the first two or so hours. I won't say any more, I don't want to spoil this book for someone else. He heard a noise somewhere. Then he heard it again. And another time. Repeats of the same sound over and over. It was two distinct sounds actually, one a solid thud and the other like something scraping against something.

After all that Amos has been through, he badly needed a break. So he let himself get convinced that a vacation is exactly what he should take. Thus his trip to the tiny and rather decrepit town of Baronville, where Alex, his journalist friend, has some family. Reading about people with photographic memories has always fascinated me. This one was no exception. Hooked to the characters, the writer simply made it impossible to trust any of them. Anyone could have been the criminal, sitting and chatting next to you. Yet, you could never know what they were plotting. I liked how weird this case is, how they slowly had to unravel it to find out the motive for the killing. Did I see the ending coming? Partly to be honest. I was not totally surprised by the twist towards the end when we learn just how everything is connected. Sometimes, the answer is in front of your eyes all the time and I have read so many thrillers that I felt it was quite obvious who the person behind it all was. That doesn't mean that I did not enjoy reading the book, but some twist were just a bit too obvious... Kudos, Mr. Baldacci, for another wonderful book. I know you have plans for new and exciting series in the fall, but I hope you will not forget this series, which has been gaining momentum since its inception. In The Fallen, David Baldacci gives us many new characters to enjoy. However, I'm not going to lie, I missed the rest of the team. From the new characters, I liked John Baron. He had an intriguing personality. He was astute, well spoken and had learned to defend himself. He had a rotten deal just by born into the Baron family.Something sinister is going on in Baronville. The rust belt town has seen four bizarre murders in the space of two weeks. Cryptic clues left at the scenes–obscure bible verses, odd symbols–have the police stumped. Electrical wiring had gotten mixed with liquid. He had investigated homicides involving arson and the smell was unmistakable. There was a fire in there.
