About this deal

Hirata contests this for a bit, but it is an unchanging fact that they have lost all of their points.

Can't wait to unearth his secrets from the past (come to think of it, we know absolutely nothing about him before he came to the school. After the atmosphere in the bus had gotten more tense, a female high school student attempted to help convince the boy to give up his seat. He runs into Horikita and the two talk for a while about the peculiarity of the school and the rule system. I will say though that one of my favorite parts of reliving this story within the light novel format was the dramatic reveal midway into the volume about how the students thought they were living this easy, luxurious life at this school with no consequences for their actions and how the homeroom teacher for their class presents the cold, hard reality to them that they earned no funds for the month because of their poor performance and behavior.

Chabashira reveals that Class 1-D received all of the points they were supposed to get, and goes on to reveal that their constant poor behaviour over the last month had decreased their monthly point earnings to zero as the school has evaluated them as being worth that much. i absolutely despised the anime, one of the main reasons being the stereotype that ones who are intelligent and cunning are devoid of emotions. Tokyo Metropolitan can get students their places in the elite jobs and universities of their dreams--if they can win, barter, or save enough points to work their way up the ranks! The boys have three races that would be decided with a final, with Kiyotaka taking 10th place, Sudō taking 2nd place, Kōenji taking first, and Hirata taking 3rd. Even though it should have been obvious to everyone that you shouldn’t skip class or sleep during it, nobody lifted a finger to help them for their own good.

Chabashira then proceeds to affirm that the school had not made any mistakes when it came to placing Horikita in Class D, stating that academics are not the only qualifier as to whether someone has merit or not in the school. Also one of the girls after having her true nature and personality revealed uses false accusations of sexual assault to blackmail a male character into keeping her secret and working with her. This is also proved by the point system in place by the school to allow those who try to profit in terms of the school’s currency of “points” which are equivalent to one yen for each point they receive. Later that day, after hearing about the upcoming club fair for first-year students, Kiyotaka decides to invite Horikita to go and look at the clubs with him.

Sudō prepares to knock out the student until Honami Ichinose arrives and gets in the middle of the conflict, telling both sides to stop their fighting and threatening to draw over a teacher. Horikita explains the plan that they made to get them to study while also not using their free time, which consists of spending their time during class to memorize and study questions, and then to use the time in between the periods to personally teach them whatever they had issues understanding. Eventually convincing her to change her mind, they agree to try to stop the Idiot Trio from failing the upcoming midterms. Finally, the unknown person then speaks to the reader again, asking if they have given thought to the future.

Kiyotaka attempts to get the three to join Horikita's study group, to no avail due to them not taking the situation seriously and the effort that studying would require. Not long after, Kushida lets him know that she was successfully able to convince all three to attend. It was still interesting, I liked the school system in this and also our beloved Protagonist Ayanakoji Kiyotaka. Classroom of the Elite paints these sorts of pictures from the beginning of volume one, making allusions to many real life inequalities and big philosophical questions towards the reader intending to showcase how real life’s systems are inherently unfair and flawed to those less privileged. But in this story, our main characters band together to help them, because they realise that it’s in everyone’s best interests to do so.

Late reply, but because of the issues around alterations in the Seven Seas versions, I read the Japanese volumes. It just didn’t have anything extraordinary or innovative that made it stand out (minus the prologue). She also reveals that only students in Class A are guaranteed the 100% post-high school education and employment guarantee that Advanced Nurturing High School promises their students, which Teruhiko Yukimura protests about. seeing how wrong the anime adaptation's perception of Ayanokoji's character made me wish i'd read this a long time ago. Hirata asks Kiyotaka if he could tell Horikita to get along with people as it is a cause of concern and he does not want bullying in the class.

Despite what happened with the English test, Horikita commends Sudō for his efforts and apologizes for some of the harsher things she had said to him previously, causing Sudō to establish feelings for her. The Idiot Trio gives a sincere thanks to Horikita for her efforts at keeping them from dropping out of school. Horikita bluntly asks for her to stop trying and that she will be angry if she continues to do this, adding on that, for her, friends are unneeded. Three weeks after the start of the school year, behaviour in the class has been getting progressively worse, with students being tardy, skipping periods, speaking during lessons, sleeping, or using electronic devices during class-time.
