About this deal

Disconnect your old switch from your home’s wiring. You might need to snip and strip off about a half inch of the wire sheath to expose he copper wire underneath. You can use wire snip or any similar tool for this step. Choosing a type of smart switch often starts with what existing switch (or switches) you want to upgrade. The most basic is a single-pole switch at a single location. To replace 3-way switches that control a set of lights from two locations, you need a smart switch that supports that type of wiring—and some smart switches make it easy to expand to even more switches.

Smart WiFi Inline Switch, 10A - Ener-j | CPC

Thank you Schiff for your informative post. I had exactly the same problem with my grid connect lights taking forever to turn on and off when operated manually. Whilst it was a bit of a PITA to uninstall and reinstall them to the app it resolves the problem 100%

Only to find that it needs a neutral. I looked at 3 different light switchs in the house and none have a neutral. Bugger. Just simple switching. Many basic smart home products on the market can get the job done, but Kasa Smart's Wi-Fi Light Switch with dimming is among the lowest-priced smart switches and can easily be more cost-effective than a set of smart light bulbs. Installation is relatively simple, with the common smart-switch requirement of a neutral wire, generally present in homes built after the 1980s. The switch includes an on/off button and a pair of up/down dimmer buttons. You can control the brightness from anywhere with the user-friendly Kasa Smart app or voice commands through Alexa or Google Assistant (but not Apple's Siri). A low-tech solution would be to move the special switch to its own single-gang wallplate and leave it as a mechanical switch. The other two outdoor lights could then be on a Deta 2 gang smart switch. I was able to switch "On" and "Off" the light switch via the grid connect app. All is working as intended. All automation worked as intended and google voice assistance.

Could I buy a smart switch on each end with one being a 2 gang and the other a 3 gang and it will work as a 2 way switch? Above does not require neutral, but you/your sparky needs to pay attention to the minimum load requirement of 20W. Recently bought a Deta 3 gang smart switch so I can schedule my outdoor lights automatically every day. Unfortunately, there is another light on that switch that can be operated using two other switches in other rooms. These smart switches are available from Bunnings and are Australian and New Zealand standards approved. The 2 way wiring between your existing switches will need to be disconnected/disabled. However you can install another smart switch at the 2nd switch location to wirelessly turn on the 1st one. This might be useful for some. I recently bought the 4 gang switch and noticed the switches are arranged as if the plate will be fixed vertically. So if you fit the switch horizontally, like pictured in the link below; No neutral unfortunately so I'm kind of forced to use the Deta but don't mind. They have everything I want and don't require any other hardware. In short, yes. The Deta smart switches can't physically be wired as 2-way switches, so you would get your sparky to hook up only one of the smart switches to physically control the lights for the meals room and kitchen. They would then bypass the wiring behind the 2nd smart switch so that it no longer functions as a 2-way switch, and isn't actually connected to anything (besides the power in and the neutral, so that it has power and can be connected to wifi).
