Our British founder, Thomas Hine, chose the emblematic stag to represent Hine, most likely because of the analogy between the words Hine and hind. However legend has it that in Dorset, Thomas Hine’s home county, lived a white hart, a harbinger of good fortune and that this is why he elected the stag.

This Hine 100 Year Anniversary Cognac contains the original Antique XO, with a special eau-de-vie from the 1920 harvest too. It has been preserved by the cellar masters in glass demi-johns in the Réserve du Paradis in Jarnac, where the Englishman Thomas Hine established Hine Cognac on the banks of the Charente river in 1763. Hine Cognac is a 255-year-old house that is rooted in British culture: its founder was from Dorset; its Cognacs are a favourite with the royal family and some of their vintage Cognacs is aged in the U.K (called early landed). For six generations, the head of the Hine family has worked hard to maintain a high-quality spirit and an incredible heritage. Hine’s Cognacs are considered to be some of the most delicate, fruit-driven and elegant, with the least wood influence. Made in Petite and Grande Champagne, the range offers great variety, from classic expressions to wild cards and bespoke Cognacs. Single vintages have been our signature for decades.
