Your kids can trace a bowl and draw a spiral snake pattern on a piece of paper. After cutting out the snake, they can use paint markers to create a geometric snake design. Continue threading until the end, using smaller bottle tops and cardboard discs to graduate the tail of the snake to a smaller diameter. For all those kiddos excited by our creepy crawly friends, they'll love these minibeast role-play masks. What would a caterpillar and a butterfly have a natter about? Would the butterfly give him some advice on how to perform the ultimate glow-up in nature, perhaps?

Are your children learning about animals? Perhaps you’re wanting to encourage them to create their own characters and write their own stories. These split pin animal characters will be a super useful tool to help engage your children in their learning, no matter how you decide to use them. Here’s another painting craft. They can trace a snake shape on paper and add a coat of paint. After letting the painted snake dry, they can cut it out, and then add googly eyes and felt pieces for the skin and tongue. We love making our own toys using recycled materials. Our wiggly snake friend has been so much loved and played with I had to make another one so the kids could have a snake each. MATERIALS: Here at Mini Mad Things, when I'm not busy crafting up a storm with my little ones, I also run a small online shop selling a range of eco-friendly kids ART SUPPLIES, CRAFT BOXES and beautiful art activity BOOKS. All the products that I sell are tried and tested by my awesome team of rigorous quality control experts (my little ones) and we only sell items that we love! With Valentine’s Day approaching, this might be the cutest snake craft to try out! Your kids can work on their motor skills as they cut up the heart shapes and glue all of the pieces together. Here’s a cool snake toy that’s best suited to older learners because they must use a mending needle to thread string through cork pieces. After it’s complete, you can watch them drag around their new pet snake! One of the reasons we love split pin crafts so much is because the fun doesn’t stop once the characters have been made. These finished split pin animal characters can be used by both educators and children for work and play. What other animal themed craft resources do you have available?

Add some small beads at the end, tie a knot to secure and trim the excess cord. Either draw or glue on googly eyes to make eyes for your snake. Cut a length of cord approx. 100cm long and tie each end onto the snakes head and body making your marionette. Now let your snake wiggle! Begin by drawing around a bottle top on the cardboard. We cut approximately 25 cardboard discs the same size as the milk bottle tops to make the snake body and 5 smaller cardboard discs for the tail. If you want to make your snake longer, just cut more discs! This craft is a good test of your kids’ ability to follow instructions. They can watch the video to learn exactly how to fold paper to make the snake’s body shape. Don’t forget to add the tongue, eyes, and nose! Begin threading cardboard discs, bottle tops and wooden beads to make the body of your snake. Add a wooden bead on the inside of each bottle tops, this creates a space between the bottle top and the next cardboard disc, allowing your snake to undulate.

What other exciting resources are there to try?

The best part about this craft is the imaginative play that can follow! You can make these by cutting a raisin box and taping on colored paper for the snake’s skin, eyes, teeth, and tongue. Your kids can use their completed crafts as puppets! If you load up this plastic snake craft with dried beans, it will produce rattling sounds when you are playing with it. You can make this by threading rope through half pieces of plastic Easter eggs that have had holes drilled into them. Using the same template from the previous craft, you can also create this stylish snake embellished with bread clips. This craft involves making a cardboard cutout of the template, following the gluing instructions and then adding the bread clips.
