About this deal

Just in time for everyone's 'spring cleaning goals' comes the book everyone needs! Part inspirational pep talk, part organizational how-to and part eye candy . . . The Home Edit is the real deal." -- Pretty Pink Tulips Declutting books are my brain candy reading. This is not a decluttering book per se, but rather organizing decluttered stuff, so close enough. Overall, the steps in their method (edit, categorize, contain, and maintain) is very practical to follow. The book will reiterate over and over again that you should do these steps but gives very little detail on how to do them. Literally every other organizing book I’ve read digs deeper into these concepts. The authors also spends a good 1/3 of the book just chatting about themselves, their famous clients, and how much they each love organizing. Granted, it was in a cheeky, entertaining manner, but for my personal wants and needs it took waaaayy too long to get to the substance of the book. In the next phase of the home organizing craze, Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin go beyond the pantry and bookshelf to show you how to contain the chaos in all aspects of your life, from office space and holiday storage to luggage and pet supplies. Get to know your organizing style, tailor it to your family's lifestyle, and lead the low-guilt life as you apply more genius ideas to every aspect of your life.

Home Edit: A Guide to Organizing and Realizing Your House Home Edit: A Guide to Organizing and Realizing Your House

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Clea has always loved to organize and has a keen eye for design which led her to NYC where she studied at Parsons School of Design. Prior to meeting Joanna and starting The Home Edit, Clea worked in social media and PR with an emphasis on fashion and entertainment. Although she’s a California girl through and through, Clea currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee with her husband John, two kids and dog. In her free time, Clea enjoys reading, sipping champagne with friends and honing her newfound skills in the kitchen! Now, even if I DID own a large house and had a hefty budget to re-organize my home, I wouldn't necessarily do it in the way suggested in this book. There is a great deal of plastic and un-sustainable storage bins and accessories used that would make me feel wasteful AND as a mother of a toddler, many of these arrangements for kid homes wouldn't work in the long term. Eva Longoria moves her son into a big-boy room and wants to revamp his closet. A family of five needs help with a kitchen bursting at the seams. Pictures of my beautiful daughter, my 10 photo albums of the first 5 years of her life, the various outfits for my 2 chihuahuas, my craft closet and my 1,000+ pens... My beloved “stuff”!

Do our homes ever get messy? Yes, of course they do! Every house gets messy, particularly when you add

Home Edit : A Guide To Organizing And Realizing Your House Home Edit : A Guide To Organizing And Realizing Your House

My world has always been a bit of a mess with the exception of items like the perfect sized container labeled “nail polish” that sits under my sink or the container in the bottom drawer of my desk labeled “stationary.” Of course nobody thanks me when they know exactly where to find a stamp or battery when they need it but anyway... Both of these books are on loan to my mom- We lost my dad this month and I knew these books would help give my her some Ideas. Going through my dads things/ donating and giving away is something I don’t know how we are going to deal with. How do you remove the things that belonged to the love of her life, her husband of 53 years. I am going to be by her side every step of the way but I don’t know how I’ll manage... My dad was my hero! It may sound strange, but I know these books will give us both some joy to look forward to... My mom deserves to have a pretty organized home. In the next phase of the home organizing craze, Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin go beyond the pantry and bookshelf to show you how to contain the chaos in all aspects of your life, from office space and holiday storage to luggage and pet supplies. Get to know your organizing style, tailor it to your family’s lifestyle, and lead the low-guilt life as you apply more genius ideas to every aspect of your life. Thank you Home Edit for giving both my mom and I something to look forward to during 2 different but difficult times we are both facing in our lives! I am and always have been a very organized person - I’m a firm believer that there is a proper place for everything and I like coming home to a consistently clean, organized space. That said, it’s always nice to review ideas and see a different perspective. There seems to be quite a few pictures in the book. At least they were described in audio. But of all the interesting examples, why would anyone care how Gwyneth Paltrow and similars organize their spaces? Just show and describe some pretty and also small space examples; quit the name dropping.

As soon as I answered yes to four out of five of the ‘you know you are an obsessive organizer when’ statements, I knew these women spoke my language. And not only are they super duper organizers, they are pretty funny, not taking themselves too seriously and people who amuse are my people. Two things I wish had been in the book- what pens they use to label different containers so I can do it myself without the writing coming off (been there done that) and their tips for storing blow dryers, hair straighteners and the like. At home or on the go, you don't have to live like a minimalist to feel happy and calm. The Home Edit mentality is all about embracing your life--whether you're a busy mom, a roommate living with three, or someone who's always traveling for work. You just need to know how to set up a system that works for you. Our servers are getting hit pretty hard right now. To continue shopping, enter the characters as they are shownAll that said, if you’re just trying to find more organization porn to sustain you until a second season comes out, this fits the bill nicely. It was very satisfying to see finished projects and hear the details on how they completed them. And the rainbow organizing? I’d heard of it before but never really thought it practical. But then I went thought and rearranged my kid’s books and it elevated the energy of the space by at least 200%. It’s so appeasing! And we actually have an easier time finding books than when it was just arranged by author. Speaking of labeling, Clea and Joanna take you through their own process by detailing more than 150 spaces with their trade secrets. With bright images that feature almost every kind of space—small or large—including pantries, fridges, closets, bathrooms, bedrooms, playrooms, and under the stairs and sink, you’ll take away so many ideas for your own rooms. DISCOVER THE “LOW-BAR LIFESTYLE” Retta calls on Clea and Joanna to set up a "leisure lounge." An office full of boxes blossoms into a peaceful retreat for parents with three boys. A virtual session (up to 30 min.) with THE organizer to assess the final space and one-time minor adjustments, if needed The Home Edit co-founders are at the top of our list when we're seeking organizational advice." -- MyDomaine
