The Fairy Stones are tantalisingly close to the road at the North end but the only access is to the south, a walk of about 950 metres. The plot dragged on wayyyy too long, featured an overly convoluted “mystery” and tried to cram three separate stories into one book.

With the promise of a sizable inheritance, Darcy decides to journey to the small coastal town that holds the secrets of her birth. the sex scenes in this felt drawn out, the words used completely took me out of the scene, and it just felt…embarrassing to read. Unfortunately this land was disallowed as part of the open access area following objections from the local "estate". The lodges inside are full or everything you could need and more and are modern and immaculate, also fantastic value for money! To the best of my knowledge, there is access to Fairydale from the gateway, adjacent to the road, near the site of Burdale station, which goes right up to the southern portal of Burdale tunnel itself.However, there’s just enough clues and suspense for you to figure most things out with some twists I didn’t even expect. but this book could have been cut in half—even with the longevity of timespan—and still have been ~500 pages. A brief sad point I noticed was the felling of several ancient ash trees which fringed the road over at Thixon Dale, more victims of ash die back I would think. At least I finished this big ass story, which is more than I can say for some books (looking at you, The Sun and Its Moon. I will say it felt a bit overly long, it is well over 800 pages long, but I did enjoy it so so much.

I can appreciate what the author has created here, as a whole, especially her wanting to depict an epic love story of soulmates who keep coming back to one another across timespans. i love unreliable narrators—and seeing the unreliability coming from past lives—but the intentional misleading the author wrote in her note at the beginning did not work at all for a book of this length.

I've heard only good things about this book, so I expected it to be at least a 4-star reading, but honestly, everything turned pretty weird. WELL🥵🥵🥵, Fairydale has mystery in it so I can’t say too much to spoil any of the surprises for you, but Jesus🥵🥵🥵 I can tell you🔥🔥, whewww🤤🤤, you’ll fall in LOVE and LUST for Caleb and Amon. The plot, the characters, the growth right down to Mr freaking Meow - this book was amazing, it was such an emotional roller coaster with so many twists and turns I thought I had figured out when I truly didn’t!

And another woman forcibly made to watch a different version of herself get brutally raped and murdered. The dale is a SINC due to its species rich chalk grassland and because of the quarry which is noted for bee orchids and butterflies. I know the ending will resolve itself but I don’t think she’s giving this issue a believable amount of thought. Amon actually had potential as an intriguing morally grey hero, and his unique origin story was honestly really cool (probably my favorite part of the book).
