About this deal

Below is a 1935 house where we reused the shiplap sheathing for interior paneling. We hid the door to a hall bathroom behind horizontal shiplap. Hugh Jefferson Randolph was the Architect on this one, too. Repurposed shiplap sheathing became interior paneling. The door is all but invisible. But it opens to reveal a bathroom. Pantry Hidden in Plain Sight — A fun hidden door helps balance proportions in this kitchen by mirroring the look of nearby cabinets. Ezifit s/steel housing cups automatically set the magnets perfectly parallel to each other, essential for precise power adjustment You can use this push door latch on larger cabinet doors as well, but with this kind of push force, it is best used on doors weighing up to 200 lbs. How it works; gently push in on the outside surface of the door. The door releases from the latch and pops outward.

The Secrets Behind Hidden Doors — Trim placement and special hardware make possible the tight tolerances that eliminate telltale gaps. Albuquerque cabinetmaker Joel Wheeler is your guide. Finally, this last series of photos below shows a remodel we worked on with FAB Architecture. What you are seeing is an oak-paneled basement wall with two hidden doors. The door on the right leads to a media room. You can see the vertical outline of another door to the left, which hides a mechanical closet for a wine conditioning HVAC unit. The door on the right leads to a media room. The door on the left side of the oak-paneled wall hides an HVAC unit. The only thing that gives the doors away are the thin vertical seams on the sides of the doors. Available in either a regular duty or heavy duty model. The heavy duty model is slightly larger and has much stronger spring action. Use the heavy duty model for solid core or heavy doors.

From our ML-ZN80 push door latch lineup, the ML-ZN80-BL is a heavy-duty magnetic touch latch that provides 11 lbs. of opening force at a very affordable price. When you use a touch latch no other hardware (knob, pull, latch) is needed on your door giving it a clean look.

Custom Service Hardware hidden door hinges — These hinges can support up to 500 lb., making them especially useful for a fully loaded bookcase door.Hidden doors create a clean, minimalistic look in a home or business space. When adding hidden doors to a project, use a simple, effective push-to-open latch like the strong yet elegant ML-ZN80-BL. The auxiliary pusher (sold separately) is used where a vacuum condition exists (for example a small closet) or any situation where the door does not open easily. The auxiliary pusher may be used with either the regular duty or heavy duty latch. This hardware isn’t cheap, but good hardware is well worth the price. The expensive part is paying a fine craftsman and builder who can actually pull this all off and make it flawless. Fun stuff! I typically use these Sugatsune three-way adjustable hinges for hidden doors. The face and internal parts of the latch are made from solid brass and steel. The case is made from plastic.

Designed for full-size doors, the ML-ZN80-BL push latch for hidden door operation features 11 pounds of push-out force to open heavier doors and 3 pounds of magnetic retaining force to securely hold the door closed.
