Having tried many of the recipes from the book, among my favourites are a splendid makhani daal, and an impressive onion and lentil korma, which are so much more than the sum of their parts. For anyone who bought Jack's second, hardback book, and felt that the recipes had moved away from the low budget focus, this one is firmly back on form. A book leaves our collection of over seven million titles and begins a new chapter every two seconds, enabling more goods to be reused. Short grained rice does something different to long grain, if you are on a tight budget you need to know your substitutions and some will find they prefer them, but people don't use a different sort of rice for some dishes out of pure affectation. This isn't a meat and 2 veg book but with the cost of living and environmental concerns, veggie recipes are welcome!This is a version of the Kickstarted one, waiting for which latter did not seem to bring out the best in people.
