About this deal

Traditional pie makers create stadard sized pies. These are usually used for pot pies and traditional dessert pies. Pie makers are very easy to use, designed specifically to be super simple and convenient. Many pie makers come with a reversible cutter, so you can measure your pastry perfectly. Veggie Bake – Add leftover veggie bake or cauliflower cheese to your wraps. Great for using up last nights Sunday dinner. Pasties are well known for being the main food that Cornish miners used to eat while working. Filled with potato, onion, and swede, they were affordable for families, but also calorific to give the miners energy. Occasionally there would be some meat in them, though this was uncommon at the time and usually only scraps. The pasty was shaped as a ‘D’ to make transporting and eating easier for the miners, with the crimp running along the side (the Cornish way). They would hold the crust with their hands (which were exposed to arsenic in the mines) and only eat the rest – thankfully we get to enjoy the crust nowadays! Family-owned (anyone else noticing a trend here?), Philps Pasties not only serve a range of pasties, including gluten-free and vegan but also offer eye-popping salads, seriously sweet treats, and drinks - perfect for building a picnic for an epic cliff walk in West Cornwall. We love breaking tradition in favour of their incredible steak and cheese pasties! Philps is also the place to go if you are at home and have a craving, as they deliver frozen pasties all over the UK and within 24 hours.

Pasty makers that didn’t make the top ten but received enough votes to deserve honourable mentions included Baker’s Cornish Bakehouse, Berrymans, Bray’s and K’s, Chough Bakery, Etherington’s, Hampsons, Helluva, Lavenders, Lucy Bakes, Mary’s, Nile’s Bakery, Pearce’s Butchers, St Agnes Bakery and Warrens. Though whilst I think of slimming world and I think of WW wraps, I don’t know anyone on Weight Watchers that uses them. Isn’t that ironic? Then for the kitchen gadgets that we have used in this air fryer slimming world pasties recipe it has just been our Cosori Air Fryer XL. We have this one and its wonderful for many types of air fryer recipes. Can you make ahead your pasties? Yes, you sure can and it’s a great time saver. Let’s say you are in the middle of washing up from dinner and have leftovers, well you can make the pasties ready for lunch the next day. Leftover WW Wraps

Last week we asked you to vote for who makes the best pasties in Cornwall, and thousands of votes were cast. We put forward 12 suggestions but also gave you the option to vote for one that wasn’t on the list – and around 130 “other” pasty makers received votes, including the overall winner.

These delicious treats are handmade on the Lizard, using a recipe which has been passed down through the generations. Frozen and cooked pasties are available for delivery throughout mainland Britain, and they also offer Cornish Pasty Gift Boxes. In Cornwall, Ann’s Pasties have shops in Helston and the Lizard, and the pasties are also available from The Cornish Food Box Company, Picnic Cornwall, at Heartlands near Redruth, The Allotment Deli in St Ives and Green Star at Four Lanes. A pie maker with a crimped edge is also a great option. This gives your pies a traditional look, and it helps you get that wonderful crispy crust! Other good features to look out for are non-slip feet and a cool touch handle. Fillings – Then don’t forget your fillings. We have outlined a few different slimming world pasty fillings below, or you might have your own amazing idea! Many traditionally sized pie makers also require that you pre-cook fillings before adding them to your uncooked pie crust.Philps deliver all around the UK and have stores in Hayle, Marazion, Porthleven, Helston, Camborne and Praze-an-Beeble.
