About this deal

I wish WB found the room to include the Atmos because then you really would have the best possible 1080p viewing experience on disc. The conversion also doesn't make any protrusion effect, so nothing actually "pops" out of the screen. Dune may lose some of its impact on the small screen – the wide shots aren’t quite as impressive without the scale of an IMAX screen – but Warner Bros have provided a strong release for home cinema enthusiasts and casual fans alike.

Destination Dune (HD; 6:16) reaches way back into the archives with a 1983 featurette directed by Paul M. Certain items can take longer to source than the estimated week, particularly during busy trading periods and may take longer to arrive at our warehouse. Edit: And finally, on the extras front, the selection of extra features remain the same too for the UK release. Hans Zimmer's thunderous score remains memorable and imposing, whilst Greig Fraser's cinematography is suitably grand, with Villeneuve putting together a creation so impressive at every level that even many - although, understandably, not all - ardent fans of David Lynch's atypical 80s Dune adaptation can appreciate the majesty at work here.

This could have been all for nought had the sequel been cancelled, but with a greenlit Part 2 on the way - eventually - Denis Villeneuve's Dune is shaping up to be one of the greatest sci-fi features of recent times. traditions, Dune was a large, lumbering book that, at least in my experience, tended to divide even its most ardent supporters. level of clarity, respectable shadow detail, and a picture quality perfectly suited to smaller setups. The difference between this disc edit and the 4K streamed version is immediately noticeable, with a pristine, crisp image, no shimmering, no artifacts in dark corners of the screen, and proper HDR.

The 4K disc is formatted in Dolby Atmos and Dolby TrueHD, and both work masterfully, unlike the streaming versions with their slightly compressed sound that doesn’t stand up to scrutiny if you’re an audiophile. It's absolutely gorgeous, and on the Big Screen - particularly with its shifting aspect ratio of IMAX enhancement - it had arguably the biggest wow factor of the year. Aside from the fact that this information may lead some to have at least a couple more questions (meticulously re-conformed?The feeling seems to emulate the dread that haunts the characters betimes, with regard to the ever present possibility of being swallowed by a 400 meter long monstrous worm. This review therefore repeats some of the same general content from my original Dune Blu-ray review . all-in approach to the Lord of the Rings trilogy over two decades ago), Villeneuve's film was clearly well-served by the risk. While an improved experience, that Atmos mix is such a beast you just can’t compare the experiences. After the initial shock and awe at all the visuals throughout the film, it's easier to focus on the nuanced performances by the actors and learn some of the culture and reasoning behind the actions that take place in Dune. Black levels are perfectly balanced, deep and rich and inky, and overall it looks pretty damn special, rounding out a gorgeously faithful visual rendition of one of the most visually innovative movies of the year. no idea how on Earth is this possible, but I didn't feel the awe I felt in 1984 watching those creatures on the silver screen.
