About this deal

And without spoiling anything, there were a couple moments in this book that I have been desperately hoping would happen for a very long time, that finally get delivered and I couldn't have been happier that they finally occurred. If the final book sticks the landing, which I fully expect it will, this series will likely go down as the best series within this world. I read it quicker than any of her previous books, which is saying something because this numbers amongst the longest. I waited even longer to begin Fool's Quest, mainly because I struggled so with the pace of Fool's Assassin.

I have two minor gripes with this book, one being Hobb taking a bit too long to continue the cliffhanger from Fool’s Assassin ending. There may be spoilers in the rest of this post that you would prefer to avoid, so keep reading at your own risk! Besides, this is the book where we finally see the worlds of the liveship traders, the dragon keepers, and the Farseers majorly collide! With it being the second book of a trilogy, and how the first book ended, I can't say I'm very surprised. After all, why would Robin Hobb have introduced her if she’s not gonna go through even more painful character development? In book 2 we travel onward from that point seeing changes both in the lives of the characters and getting a larger scale view of what's going on in this world. If you have not started this series yet I think its high time that you pick Assassin's Apprentice and start this amazing journey. The book, whether it's dealing with tense and action-packed chase scenes, gruesome accounts of torture or long chapters of political manoeuvring or quiet conversations between old friends (OH MY HEART) is just every page a gem. But if you’re curious about my overall thoughts on the book, I do have a short section on the entire series in my August 2022 wrap-up, and of course, I’m always thrilled to talk about Assassin’s Fate with anyone who wants to!

If Fitz and the Fool changed each other like dragons change their Elderlings, does that I can blame Fitz for how revenge-driven the Fool has suddenly become?I love how awed Perseverance is by Fitz’s identity 😄 Still, why isn’t he affected by the Obliviation? All that's left is either going on a suicide run with the blinded and broken Fool against a whole powerful kingdom by himself, or settling in with his old friends who love him like the hero that he is, trying to enfold him back into their graces despite his deep reluctance.
