About this deal

Is your home safe for little explorers? Selina Russel, in-house safety expert at Fred Safety, offers the following home baby proofing safety tips: In some situations, the opening that you are trying to protect makes it awkward to fit a stairgate. If this is the case in your home, take a look at our Stairpost or Wall and Skirting Fitting Kits which are designed to help. Keep space around windows clear: Prevent your child from being able to climb up and onto windowsills. Pressure fit gates: These stay in place by pushing up against the walls, need to be fitted with adhesives but are less damaging to the surfaces and are, arguably, easier to install. They are less secure than screw-fit gates, however, and aren’t recommended for, say, the top of the stairs where you may want a slightly sturdier barrier.

Stairs can be dangerous: Until you are able to install a safety gate, keep the door shut so your baby stays in the room with you – even in the loo! Free standing baby gates: Play pen style gates provide a clear, secure area for your baby but can take up space. Tall safety gates: If your tiny tots are blessed with long legs or an adventurous spirit, it is worth shopping for extra tall gates to keep little escape artists safe.

Fred`s TipGet in the habit of closing the gate every time you pass through, even when your child is asleep. Ensure that visitors know to do the same. The best way to clean the Acrylic is with a micro-fiber cloth and a mild soap; do NOT use paper towels. There are also specially formulated cleaning products for Acrylic such as Novus 1 and Novus 2. CAUTION! Do not use paper towels and don’t use any cleaning product that contains ammonia such as Windex, 409, etc. Never use abrasive cleaning products. + Are extensions included? Pressure gates ALWAYS need to be fitted with wall cups, but with our Fred SecureHold™ adhesive, these can simply be fitted with adhesive against wood - though you’ll still need to use screws for fitting the wall cups to other surfaces. Reassuringly child-proof If you wondered how tall this gate actually is, then it’s 110cm (43.3 inches, 3.6 ft) which is more than enough for even a particularly tall toddler and medium-sized dog breeds. You’ll find that this excellent baby gate will work on doors and hallways 75-84cm which will fit 99% of normal houses. It is pressure mounted with wall cups which means you don’t need any tools to install this bad boy – this will either mean great news as you’re a parent with limited DIY skills or bad news if you have DIY skills and you’re after a more secure solution. This is a no-trip stair gate - ideal for use at the top of staircases: the advantage of fitting to your wall with screws! Reassuringly child-proof

Fits openings 76-96cm wide using the 2 Gate Extensions included, or 124cm wide by adding up to 4 moreThe dimensions of the BabyDan Beechwood Gate are 78.5 x 3 x 71.5 cm which is pretty much the same as most baby gates. The beechwood is smoothly finished with no splittings and splinters. The wood is well crafted and it looks professional. Support beams are absent from the product as it is wall mounted for extra strength this makes the product look like it ‘belongs’ to the home as opposed to being added to it. The list can go on and in greater depth. For more information on this we recommend visiting Safekids.co.uk
