About this deal

This book is filled with plot twists and when you think you have it figured out, there's further reveals. Despite small action in the first half ,the characters engaged me enough to keep me turning the pages and to feel the frustration of their situations. But she soon finds out… and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it’s far too late. This was awful, and I suspect would be a two star if I finished it, but I'm not putting myself through that.

The story is told in three parts, I found part 1 and part 2 to be quite predictable but part 3 is what wowed me. As always, not much to say about a thriller without spoiling anything (that would just be bad), but let's sum up the thoughts. Summertime is always the thriller season for me and I'm so happy I kicked off this season with something as good as these books. This was entertaining, a bit predictable, some light suspense, and an all around easy read with a couple silly parts. We know next to nothing about Millie for at least 60% of the novel…so why are we supposed to care about her?Besides the fantastic pacing, I also loved all the New York references since I’m a New Yorker and it really felt close to home. Freida lives with her family and black cat in a centuries-old three-story home overlooking the ocean, with staircases that creak and moan with each step, and nobody could hear you if you scream. Bestselling author Freida McFadden is a practicing physician specializing in brain injury who has penned multiple Kindle bestselling psychological thrillers and medical humor novels. There are some slight romance elements as well which might entice you to pick this up if you are new to thrillers. He makes her repeat the exercise after she falls short by a minute the first time; when he opens the door, however, Millie pepper-sprays him with a bottle Nina left for her in the room, steals Andrew’s phone, and turns the tables on him, locking him in and torturing him similarly.

I love trying to figure out what is going to happen, where the plot is going, who is telling the truth, who is reliable, etc. In addition, she learns that Nina spent time in a psychiatric hospital after trying to kill Cecelia when she was a baby. Not wanting Millie to bear the consequences of something she tricked her into doing, Nina asks her to leave.Even the most telegraphed plot twists somehow catch her by surprise, despite all the warning signs and the not-so-cryptic warnings she receives from other characters. There are so many twists and turns in this book I was in knots and althought I thought I had it sussed no, no I definitely didn’t. And I cook a delicious meal for the whole family before heading up to eat alone in my tiny room on the top floor. Thinking back on everything, I can’t tell you how many authentic jaw-dropping moments I had while reading this as this novel completely blew my mind.

She's over the moon to have a job and a bed, but she quickly realizes something funky is happening in the home.

But, there are MANY 5 star reviews so, IF the crazier the better is what you are looking for-it should satisfy YOU! cecelia is standing behind me, her pale blue eyes boring into me, wearing a white frilly dress that makes her look like a little doll.
