About this deal

View spoiler Hide spoiler Sorry for the blurry picture of the shoulderplates, but with work-in-progress if my pictures turn out bad, I can never re-make them because I'm already at the next step! I got both positive and negative reactions on my color choice, but I think it looks very 80's, so I like it! Seriously, industry-professionals having a Youtube channel that they use to show how they make their amazing stuff are the best! But on the other hand, my boyfriend was laughing like crazy too because of how in-character Roshi was, so we had lots of fun!

I'm completely not used to cosplaying cute and shy characters, but what helped was that I was also not 100% comfortable in such a bare costume, even though I was wearing a bodysuit. I had quite a hard time finding the right shade of dark blue, but I'm pretty content with how this color turned out! Even though the cape and top are seperate parts, I decided that construction-wise it was better to cheat and put them together. I haven't watched Kill La Kill (yet), but I don't see myself doing one of those super-bare transformed outfits if that was what you were trying to say, lol!I remember struggling so much with it, while it's actually a joke compared to a lot of other costumes I've made. View spoiler Hide spoiler I just re-measure myself every once in a while to see if I didn't get a lot fatter or thinner and see if the mannequin is still good. Even though it's a very important part when making a costume and something you can't escape if you want to make helmets/armor/props.

For some reason I had the bright idea that I could use small pieces of foam to cover the gaps I had inbetween the detailing and the helmet itself. It's perfect for working on cosplay, because I know that everything I make on the mannequin will fit me too! How long the drying process takes depends on the weather, but on a general (quite cold) day in the Netherlands this can take a full day. I did a lot of test rounds at home and was wearing the costume since 6AM that morning without any problems and when it was almost time for me to get on stage (around 3PM) parts started to malfunction, so I got quite stressed thinking "what if something breaks or falls off on stage? Sorry for this incredibly long post, I hope you guys liked it and I hope to also see you at my next blog! The best way to fix this mess was filling everything up that I damaged, re-sand it and repaint a lot of parts over again.

In Chi-Chi's character design most of her hair pieces are quite "square" and I decided I wanted to literally recreate this effect. That way the weight of the cape was on the top, my chest and my back instead of resting on the shoulderplates.Because of the (quite unexpected, to be honest) positive reactions I got on my previous cosplay project blog blog/20041 , I decided to also make a blog about my Chi-Chi costume project!
