DISCLOSURE: I was provided with a free copy of this book for the purposes of writing a honest and impartial review. Overall, Richard Sayce’s (aka Misty Ricardo) Curry Compendium is an excellent book to teach you how to prepare and cook delicious BIR (British Indian Restaurant) style curries in your home kitchen. Richard Sayce is the man behind Misty Ricardo's Curry Kitchen, and this is a compendium cookbook full of British Indian restaurant recipes which featured in his previous books.

If you’re looking to reproduce BIR (British Indian Restaurant) style curry you’re in the right place. A simple and straightforward recipe book that is easy to read, understand and follow, without being pretentious. Misty Ricardo's Curry Compendium is perfect for anyone who wants to start cooking BIR style food at home and is unsure of where to start.

The majority of pages are undamaged with some creasing or tearing, and pencil underlining of text, but this is minimal. Growing up in Britain in the seventies, my experience of food was mostly the staple British classics, such as roast meat and two veg, cauliflower cheese, beans on toast, ham salad, cheese on toast, chicken pie and of course potatoes… many potatoes! Inside the new book you'll find an abundance of mouth-watering, delightfully easy to follow Indian restaurant recipes. I endeavoured to finally master the art of creating excellent BIR style curry, and with time and a lot of experimentation, finally gained enough skill and knowledge to be happy with sharing my experiences.

His long-standing admiration of Indian cuisine from an early age inspired an epic journey of determination, experimentation, creation, and discovery. Richard Sayce, the man behind the Misty Ricardo’s Curry Kitchen, has many years of experience in the world of Indian food. The pictures in this recipe book are mouth-watering, I found myself flipping through and wanting to make everything there and then so that I could eat it. Following his award winning two previous curry volumes, Curry Compendium is a hardback masterpiece for all those wanting to reproduce that British Indian restaurant style of cooking.Trading Address (Warehouse) Unit E, Vulcan Business Complex, Vulcan Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE5 3EB. Curry Compendium is based on the two top selling paperback prequels Indian Restaurant Curry at Home Volumes 1 and 2 which have collectively sold over 50,000 copies in three years. He has a simple methodology where things happen right for you and a link to YouTube for a demo before you start. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. With just under 100 mouth-watering, easy to follow recipes to try out and delight your tastebuds, any curry lover will want this recipe book on their kitchen bookshelf.

To my surprise and delight, each of my books won renowned Gourmand Worldwide Food Awards for Best Self-Published UK cookbook (Volume 1 – 2019, Volume 2 – 2020), and Best UK Published Asian Cookbook (Curry Compendium – 2022). The mockup images you see don’t really do justice to the finished product – the high calibre finishing involves embossing and headbands. Stir and scrape the caramelisation back into the sauce, but only do this to stop the curry sticking too much and burning.

As with most recipe books (and restaurant menus), the Curry Compendium is split into sections so that you can easily locate what you are after. It does an excellent job of explaining all the steps in detail as well as the reasons why things need to be done a certain way to bring out the best flavours and textures. Introducing the definitive guide to recreating British Indian Restaurant favourites from the comfort of your own home!
