About this deal

Now that you have a front end launcher, you’ll want to set it as your default desktop and auto-start when you first boot Android. Then go to the Options section in Emulationstation just above Retroarch and select PS1 - Show only m3u files. The last device in the lineup is actually two variants: the RG353V and RG353VS. Both of these devices have the exact same form factor with the previously mentioned exception that the RG353VS is Linux only and has only 1GB of memory rather than the standard 2GB of the other devices. So, if you are looking to use Android you’ll want to go with the RG353V. If you are looking to save a little bit of money and don’t care about Android then you can’t go wrong with the RG353VS. Choosing the right OS for the RG353 Q. How do I use the HDMI port? A. With the unit powered off, plug the device into your HDMI TV or monitor. Then power the device on.

Now that your SD card is configured with the file structure you want, you can copy all of your favourite games onto the new card. You can also find instructions for doing this in my Starter’s Guide for the RG353 Configure your emulatorsIt comes with a whole ton of games - for some reason a lot of them have numbers at the start of the filename which is annoying anbernic pls don't lol.

Q. What is BaRT and how do I access it? A. BaRT is short for Boot and Recovery Tool. It allows the following: The android OS on the RG353 can provide a great experience but it will require some work to get it setup. If you plan on playing PSP or N64 on this device then I definitely recommend putting in the effort as the Android side is more capable for these systems and will give you better performance. You’ll want make sure that you have a second SD card where you will load up all of your ROMs. This is not required but I highly recommend it. Insert your blank SD card into the device in the TF2 slot and format the card as external storage. The next thing I did was restart the system into the Linux OS and have it configure the SD card with the Linux file structure. This makes it easier to use a single card for both OS. You can see more on this in my Starter’s Guide for the RG353 To boot into the Android system, you’ll need to ensure that the SD card has been removed from the TF1 card slot. Without the TF1 card, turn on the device and walk through the standard setup. Once competed you should be greeted with a pretty blank looking screen. Q. Where are game saves and savestates stored? A. Game saves and savestates are stored in the respective content folder for each system. The advantage of having one SD card for your games only is that you can place it in the TF2 card slot which can be accessed from both the Android OS and the Linux OS. This OS does not come pre-installed with Google Play store so you’ll either have to sideload your apps, use a third-party app like the Aurora Store, or follow a walkthrough on installing the Google Play store onto the device.

Let’s finish up by talking about the screen, and it is a lovely screen indeed. It is a 3.5-inch IPS display, with OCA lamination and 640×480 resolution. In addition to this, it has full multipoint capacitive touch capabilities, and it is very responsive, allowing for great Android navigation. You’ll recognize the overall quality as being fairly similar to recent Anbernic handhelds like the RG351MP and 351V, as well as the recent 353P, which all have very gorgeous vibrance and color. Even at its minimum brightness the beautiful display of the 353V is so much brighter than its inspiration The popularity of the Anbernic retro game consoles has been hyped up in the recent 2 years but still, some of you might run into issues during use. The RG353V variant, for instance. More specifically, there are 2 options: The rg353v and the rg353vs. The differences between the 2 are quite obvious: the rg353vs is an elite edition of the RG353V, that is to say, it does not have Android, and Touchscreen and wireless projection are not supported. Running on Android means that you will have access to a collection of built-in Android games. This distribution is very close to JELOS in terms of emulators being configurable and being lightweight, however, as custom development continues separately from the original OS you can expect it to start to diverge more.

Q. Can I use bluetooth headphones with this unit? A. Yes. Bluetooth headphones should work with the unit as of the ArkOS v2.0 (11/01/2022) updated. Make sure to go to Bluetooth in the options system section just before Retroarch and run it. It will start the Bluetooth connection manager. Put your bluetooth headphones into pairing mode and select Connect to new Bluetooth device and add your bluetooth headphones.
