About this deal

All-in-all, the QN95B is probably Samsung’s best 4K TV to date, and I can’t wait to spend more time with the 2021 range to hopefully give you more in-depth opinions. THE 2022 SAMSUNG THE FRAME The QN95B sports Samsung’s Infinity One design which was reserved for the 8K model. Whilst the bezels aren’t as razer thin as my QN900A, they’re really damn thin especially when compared to OLEDs. The actual panel itself is also thin just coming in at 15mm. This makes it perfect for wall mounting without the hefty bump that other TVs have. Updated to Test Bench 1.7 with an updated HDR Brightness test that better reflects real world usage. We've also split the console compatibility boxes into separate PS5 Compatibility and Xbox Series X|S Compatibility tests. You can see our full changelog here. But we’re more impressed by what we saw from actually watching content on the newer TV. We witnessed a significant upgrade to the QN95C’s blooming control and viewing angles —in fact, the viewing angles on the QN95C were so good that OLED TVs should be worried this year. Samsung QN95C vs. Samsung QN95B TV: Which should you buy?

We had a chance to examine Samsung QN95B side-by-side with Sony's first miniLED LCD TV, X95K, and while we do not intend to not reveal too much here (full Sony X95K review coming up later) we wanted to include a comparison shot similar to the one we took last year with Samsung QN95A and Sony X90J side-by-side. This substantial upgrade is made all the more exciting when combined with a new, improved Neural Quantum 4K processor, the screen’s mini-LED lighting and the return of Samsung’s Shape Adaptive Light technology, which manages to adjust the wavelength of the light in any given dimming zone to try and help it blend in better with its neighbors. Gameplay is awesome on the QN95B, with the 4K resolution and bright HDR producing dazzling ray-traced images in Call of Duty. While running at 120Hz, the motion is buttery smooth and free of artefacts, and the amazingly low input lag ensures responsive gaming across every genre. However, a large chunk of the new home screen is wasted on what’s essentially an advert, for starters. Also, the way the TV tries to collate content ultimately just ends up filling the screen with lots of obscure stuff that most people won’t care less about.

Thank you for your reservation.

Overall, we think that QN95B delivers better sound than most TVs but the speaker system still has obvious limitations for movie watching and gaming, and especially for music we will recommend an external system. Even though OLED and QD-OLED TVs are both seeing much bigger enhancements for 2023, especially when it comes to brightness, than we’d usually expect to see over a single TV generation, the Samsung QN95C still maintains a more than substantial enough brightness advantage over even the best new OLEDs to make it an invaluable option for light room environments - or people who just love bright HDR. The QN95C's price is about as high we expect to see for a 65-inch TV from a mainstream brand in 2023. (Image credit: John Archer) Samsung QN95C TV review: value

This TV also has Samsung’s ambient mode, a screensaver-style display closely associated with the Samsung The Frame (2022). While the Samsung QN95B Neo QLED TV doesn’t have the framed, museum-esque bezels, ambient mode makes the TV look great when it’s not being watched. The only category that stood out from the benchmarks we collected is brightness. In the same 10% window in Filmmaker mode, the Samsung QN95C measured 2321.2 nits, improving on the QN95B’s 1653.6 nits. We’ll note that the QN95B’s best brightness measurement of 1905.8 nits was measured in Standard mode, but we haven’t yet been able to test that on the QN95C. Either way, the numbers we have seen do show an improvement to brightness. The Samsung QN95B takes its cues from last year’s high-end 8K models, and the slender “Infinity One Design” looks gorgeous, with an emphasis on contemporary minimalism.

Design, Connections and Control

This is the brand new flagship Samsung 4K Tv that we didn’t get last year. It’s a Harvey Norman exclusive and thankfully it has the One Connect box meaning that we now get four full bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports, which was only on the 8K model last year. The One Connect box is also 20% slimmer. It comes in 55″, 65″ and 75″ and I had the privilege of seeing the 75″ model in the flesh. HDR10+ is like Dolby Vision to some extent – at least in the way it includes extra scene by scene picture data in its HDR feeds that compatible TVs can use to deliver more accurate HDR pictures. However, HDR10+ is used substantially less in the content creation world than Dolby Vision. With anything mastered in Dolby Vision, the QN95C will only be able to play the HDR10 core of it, without the extra scene by scene data. In the lab, Tom’s Guide tested the Samsung QN95B Neo QLED TV using an X-Rite i1 Pro spectrophotometer, a SpectraCal VideoForge Pro pattern generator and Portrait Displays’ Calman calibration software. Across the board, the set scored high marks compared to the other units to undergo the Tom’s Guide TV tests in 2022. Fans of Dolby Vision Dynamic HDR-format with a color depth of up to 12 Bits and Mastering of up to 10,000 Nits will once again have nothing to look at, but the Samsung Neo QLED QN95B now features HDR10+ License-free, dynamic HDR-format in competition with Dolby Vision Adaptive and HDR10+ Gaming as well as a new gaming hub that will allow you to stream your favorite titles directly onto the panel. Build quality is good enough to ensure the screen still feels reasonably robust despite the slenderness of its bodywork, and the centrally mounted stand means you can place the TV on a really quite narrow bit of furniture if you wish.
