About this deal

The book was an easy read, the storyline was just a little young for me. I would recommend this book to a young girl between 11 and 13 years old. The conversations being held and the overall plot wasn’t anything necessarily new or reinvented. Jane just keeps getting better and better. Her books are so smart, funny and warm. I really love her relatable characters, who appear fragile until they become warriors we cheer for ADELE PARKS I whipped through Just Got Real by Jane Fallon in a single sunlounger session and howled with laughter . . . A tautly plotted story of betrayal and revenge, it's threaded with authentic characters and heartwarming friendship Clare Macintosh, Good Housekeeping Katie is the daughter of a big-time businessman and a successful boutique owning mother. She’s polished, academically accomplished, and heavily involved in school. She’s had what most people would describe as an easy life, though she puts a lot of stress on herself. Contrasting that, we have AJ. Originally from Louisiana, AJ has grown up covered in car grease from her late father’s mechanics shop and being one of the guys being raised alongside two older brothers.

I'm a huge fan of this author's gripping, sharp and brilliantly twisty books, and I'm delighted to report that this latest is just as deliciously readable as the rest . . . A rollercoaster of revenge. I loved it * Daily Mail * Another Fallonesque treat. Full of heart, humour and humanity. She's so good at tapping into the best and the worst in us. Fabulous * RUTH JONES * It was nice to read about AJ’s romantic relationship with Katie’s brother and how she was so aware of herself and her emotions throughout. It was also interesting to see just how vastly she differed from Katie. This book was set up so each chapter was from the point of view of either Katie or AJ so the reader could get first person dialogue from the main characters. I see more of myself in Kate. That might sound bad, but what I mean is, Kate sees her flaws and doesn't like what she sees. She is frustrated with her thoughts towards other people and even with the artificial-ness of those around her, to a point. Kate also puts on a mask of how she wants others to see her, something I tend to do myself. I'm a huge fan of this author's gripping, sharp and brilliantly twisty books, and I'm delighted to report that this latest is just as deliciously readable as the rest . . . A rollercoaster of revenge. I loved it Daily MailMeanwhile, Kate, queen bee of the school is quietly freaking out about several things. How to keep things steady with her fake boyfriend, making certain her under bees remain in awe of her and most important, riding herd on everything involved with ensuring the perfect prom happens. While I for the most part enjoyed AJ's character more than that of Kate, I appreciated the fact that there was more to Kate than one would have first thought. In particular, I loved the fact that the authors chose to represent Kate as someone who has a strong relationship with her siblings, as it definitely gave her character an extra depth. Kate's brother Kaden plays a fairly important role in the book, as he starts to develop a romance with AJ throughout the course of the story, and it was really endearing to see the lengths the two of them go to keep their relationship from going too fast or too far. This may have been a shorter length novel, but it still manages to dive into some pretty important issues like losing a parent, parental divorce and remarriage, peer pressure, rumors, and overall, standing up for what you believe in.

However, you have to remember that I was raised on shows such as Lizzie McGuire and That's So Raven, and movies such as Beauty and the Beast (the original animated feature, not the recent live-action flub) and The Princess Diaries. So, female-fronted stories featuring strong heroines are what I'm used to. A deliciously compelling story of romance and revenge. Just Got Real is intelligent, funny, and sharply observed. Be prepared to read in one sitting! * LUCY CLARKE * I am genuinely really struggling to rate this one. I had good feelings about it. I had bad feelings. I enjoyed it overall but downright disliked it at first. I found myself pleasantly surprised by the last half of the book which was entertaining. To me, this read like a crossover between Desperate Housewives and The Tinder Swindler. Her best yet! Ingenious and entertaining as ever but this book has a lot of WARMTH and HEART' MARIAN KEYES At first glance especially with the gorgeous pink front cover i said to myself this is a typical romance story. However i finished the book with a totally different opinion as it covered some heavy topics such as online dating, deception, grief and loss, romance related fraud as well as loneliness.Just going to put it out there straight away that I didn't really like this book much. I have read a previous novel from this author and quite enjoyed it, but I wasn't a fan of this one. I found it a bit hard to swallow that Joni was on her high horse about Ant lying when she herself had used pictures of her sister on her online profile, then followed (stalked...) Ant to force a meeting in person, at which point she used a fake name and had to change her phone number so Ant didn't put two and two together. I mean... really? Ant was 100% not a good person, but Joni wasn't exactly honest herself. I kept reading because I was mildly interested to see how it would all turn out, but I can't honestly say I enjoyed it. There were some parts I appreciated, like when Joni forms a connection with the other women that Ant is seeing. I’ve read – and loved – ALL of Jane Fallon’s books, but Just Got Real is her best yet! Especially gorgeous on female friendship’ MARIAN KEYES Romance: This book's romance is simple, clean, and cute. Kaden and AJ end up dating (even though they have their differences) and are super sweet and all that. On the other hand, Kate's "boyfriend", Alex ends up being really annoying. He does some bad things to embarrass Kate, and lets just say they don't have a great relationship.
