About this deal

His Punisher OGN Kingdom Gone (August, 1990) led to him working on the monthly The Punisher War Journal (and later, more monthly and occasional Punisher titles), and also brought him to the attention of DC Comics editor Denny O'Neil, who asked him to produce a Robin mini-series. The mini proved popular enough to spawn two sequels - The Joker's Wild (1991) and Cry of the Huntress (1992) - which led to both an ongoing monthly series (which Dixon wrote for 100 issues before leaving to work with CrossGen Comics), and to Dixon working on Detective Comics from #644-738 through the major Batman stories KnightFall& KnightsEnd (for which he helped create the key character of Bane), DC One Million , Contagion , Legacy , Cataclysm and No Man's Land . Much of his run was illustrated by Graham Nolan. Collects Heroes for Hire (Vol. 3) #1-12; Spider-Island: Heroes for Hire #1; and Villains for Hire #0.1, 1-4. Marvel Super Heroes #1: This is included in Essential Vol. 3, above. Due to the nature of this book – using inventory stories that had no other home, the issue actually fits into continuity here – prior to its release in 1990 Moon Knight is in a unique spot in Marvel's stable of characters: a loner by nature with the exception of a handful of supporting characters who have come and gone over the years and some brief periods spent with the Avengers that feel inconsistent with his usual characterization and tone, he is a street-level vigilante with ties to the supernatural with just enough readership to justify having an ongoing title while not enough popularity to be subject to editorial meddling. This makes Moon Knight the perfect place for creators to express themselves while working for a major publisher and getting the chance to incorporate Marvel's other characters into their work every so often if they so desire. Moon Knight also teamed-up with Spider-Man, the Punisher, Nova, and Night Thrasher in the Round Robin storyline at the end of 1991.

While writing multiple Punisher and Batman comics (and October 1994's Punisher/Batman crossover), he also found time to launch Team 7 for Jim Lee's WildStorm/Image and Prophet for Rob Liefeld's Extreme Studios. He also wrote many issues of Catwoman and Green Arrow , regularly having about seven titles out each and every month between the years 1993 and 1998. Moon Knight by Warren Ellis – A collection of short stories exploring the mind of Marc Spector, changing the tone and the genre each issue offering a different approach to the character well worth reading. As the run progresses and the key concepts are established, Moench can then focus his attention on recurring villains, themes, and on telling stories beyond "villain of the month" stories. The final arc centering on Marc's father and his relationship to spirituality and religion as the son of a rabbi who serves an ancient Egyptian god is particularly poignant and is a great capstone. Similarly, the art takes some time to find its footing, but later issues finally manage to play more with shadows and the use of Moon Knight's costume and its distinctive color to contrast with his surroundings. Epic Collection, Vol. 5-6: Not yet announced, but will contain Marc Spector: Moon Knight (1989) #8-38. Costretto in sedia a rotelle non può più essere Moon Knight, il Cavaliere della Luna, il difensore dei viaggiatori notturni.

Where to start reading Moon Knight?

Secret Wars: Marc appears in Deadpool’s Secret Secret Wars (2015) #1 and Ultimate End (2015) #4-5. See Guide to Marvel Universe Events – Secret Wars (2015). Just like his Nightwing and Batman runs, Dixon let's Marc have fun being a superhero. Whooping ass, taking names, a little sexist with Marlene because...of course. Don't have to research much to see where Dixon is now days and who he writes with. But I'll save the political stuff for another day. The writing is solid enough to carry these stories even if they hold little to no weight. We know what will happen every issue, Moon Knight will survive, no big twist or turns. Marvel Comics Presents (2019) #4: This Benjamin Percy story is billed as “what happened next” after Marc “went completely insane and disappeared.” It’s hard to say if that places it just before this run or just after, but he appears as Mr. Knight, so it’s likely not set any earlier.

In questo volume troviamo un Marc Spector distrutto, umiliato, con le gambe spezzate e imbottito di farmaci. Collects Amazing Spider-Man (1963) 351-360, Amazing Spider-Man Annual 25, Spectacular Spider-Man Annual 11, Web Of Spider-Man Annual 7 Age of Ultron: Marc appears prominently in the early issues #2 & 4-5 (plus #10 and Avengers Assemble (2012) #14 AU), but this splinter timeline has no effect on his main story. See Guide to Marvel Universe Events – Age of UltronAnyway, all this to say that this really wasn’t a particularly good book (in my opinion much of the art is horrible) and I’m glad I didn’t buy the print edition (I got discounts on the ebook, too.) Marc Spector was born in Chicago, Illinois, the Jewish-American son of a rabbi. But Marc refused to follow in his father’s footsteps and instead, he became boxer before joining the Marines. Later, he worked for the CIA and as a mercenary. It’s during a mission gone wrong in Egypt that Spector is left for dead at the feet of an idol to the Egyptian god Konshu, moon god and protector of travelers at night. Konshu resurrected Marc, giving him for the occasion enhanced physical abilities, making him the moon’s “knight of vengeance,” the “fist of Khonshu.”
