About this deal

Improved grip is another significant advantage of powerlifting shoes. To avoid slipping and keep correct form when lifting heavy weights, it's critical to have a firm grip on the lifting surface. The sole materials and construction of powerlifting shoes are intended to provide maximum traction. It’s a great shoe for general strength training, too. The only thing it may not be ideal for is squats. But that’s only if you prefer raised heel shoes (e.g. Olympic lifting shoes like the Reebok Legacy Lifters or cross-training/general strength training shoes like the Adidas Powerlifts). When lifting heavy weights, it's critical to have appropriate ankle support and stability, which can help avoid injuries and improve lifting performance. Through their construction and form, powerlifting shoes are intended to provide this support. As you’ve probably noticed, any shoes that fulfill the required specifications of a deadlifting shoe can be a good alternative to them. In addition to wrestling shoes, boxing shoes like the Otomix Stingray are some of the best shoes for deadlifting.

SABO PowerLift feature classical construction for the purists out there. They are specifically designed to let you hold and fixate your feet, and a flexible toe box with a solid insert provides superior heel support. They feature two multidirectional straps made from natural leather, and synthetic breathable mesh keeps you comfortable and helps to control odors. Pros: good arch support, flat & wide soles, comfortable, solid tight fit, decent traction, super versatile, nearly unlimited color choices.

We stock a range of SABO lifting shoes - designed for powerlifting & deadlifting

It should be noted that the ankle strap provides more subtle support compared to the metatarsal strap. For example, if you crank the metatarsal strap to its max capacity, it’ll be tight to the point of discomfort. However, if you attach the ankle strap as far as it allows, it will just be a bit snugger. It’s noticeable and does make an important difference, but it won’t make up for if you haven’t laced your shoes tight enough. Weightlifting shoes also have hard soles, but they are somewhat flat. They can have a raised heel that adds 0.5 – 1” height. The added height makes it easier for lifters to get into a deeper position for squats, snatches, and cleans, but it is not ideal for deadlifts.

For my sumo-focused friends, when finding a perfect pair of shoes for your pulling style, you’ll want to consider the sole of the shoe and lateral upper and sole construction. As strength sports and more specifically powerlifting continues to grow, so does the popularity of SABO Deadlift Shoes. There are handfuls of powerlifters that regard SABO Deadlift Shoes as the best deadlift shoe in the game. Regularly competing in powerlifting myself, I was curious, are the SABO Deadlift Shoes really as great as many say?

As you’ve figured from the previous benefits, a dedicated deadlift shoe has everything that keeps you in the correct position to lift.
