About this deal

She frequently talks about him as her “spine”, she has centered her world around him, and allowed the rest of her world to atrophy and flake away. This was incredibly well done in its portrayal of obsession and what it means to be a part of a fandom to an extent where it consumes your life.

Although the reasons for her outsider status aren't explicitly addressed, Akari emphasises an official diagnosis as somehow “abnormal. Mặc dù tôi cũng sẽ tham dự các buổi biểu diễn offline, nhưng nếu phải lựa chọn, tôi vẫn muốn trở thành một người hâm mộ chìm trong đám đông. I may be wrong, but I do get the impression that most contemporary Japanese literature features characters who are eccentrics and outsiders, often at odds with the expectations of society. Bản thân mình không phủ nhận rằng những thần tượng đã đem đến sự tích cực trong cuộc sống của một vài người, giúp những người có cùng sở thích kết nối với nhau; thậm chí mình đã từng rất ngưỡng mộ một vài ca sĩ - mình sẵn sàng mua những gì họ đang dùng, muốn biết thêm các thông tin về họ (dù chỉ là tin nhỏ). We never learn if the assault took place - or indeed if it took place at all - imbuing the narrative with the same feeling you get when you're 30 pages into a rumor filled subreddit.Dần sau đó, người đọc được biết cách Akari lần đầu nhìn thấy thần tượng của cô bé, cách cô bé đã ngưỡng mộ thần tượng thế nào, cách mà thần tượng đã cho Akari điểm tựa trong cuộc sống này.

I kept waiting for the story to go somewhere, especially with Masaki’s ‘alleged’ assault, but it never does.High-school student Akari suffers from learning disabilities and has been diagnosed with a mental illness (seems like depression and/or ADHS), she feels left out by her family and social environment. I was very interested, because I have an 18-year old daughter who is also passionately devoted to an idol group, although in a much more healthy way than the girl in this story. Phones and TV screens have kind of a grace built into their separation, like the distance between the stage and the audience. Rin Usami balances humor, obsession, heartbreak, and sacrifice in her debut, crafting a story that's both enveloping and expansive. A short but mighty novel that sheds a light on the world of superfans, obsession and the dangers of building your identity around a phenomenon that can disappear in a second .

Overall it reads easily enough, but only due to the heartfelt afterword of the author I am rounding up to three stars. Wspomnienie o idolu sprawia, że przenosi się do innego świata w którym może być jeszcze dzieckiem oglądającym w teatrze “Piotrusia Pana”, w tych momentach rzeczywistość przestaje mieć znaczenie.I was torn on the rating here; if I’m not sure I tend to lean towards generosity, but there are many ways in which Idol, Burning is unsatisfying, and I felt some of its potential was wasted. This novella is a fascinating deep dive into Fandom culture - Akari is 16 and totally devoted to her idol, Masaki, a performer in the band Maza Maza. As accusations pile up and the singer’s star wanes, Akari has to find a new sense in life – one that does not rely on her obsession as a crutch.

Sie setzt sich in Beziehung zu ihrem Idol und analysiert haargenau die Symbolik die dem zu Grunde liegt.

Its interesting of a human psychology that we can actually judge someone, solely from their online persona , and what the media portrays them to be, only for us to cancel them once they made a mistake. Her interest verges on obsession, as she spends hours looking for information about her idol and trying to understand him.
