About this deal

These days you can also find amps that run on USB battery banks, the same ones used to charge smartphones. These are probably the most convenient since most of us already have battery banks lying around, but they are also fairly cheap and easy to replace. On the other hand, even if you have a continuous power supply, a big amp will not give you the convenience of playing whenever you get an inspiration to go outdoors and perform. A portable battery-powered amp is ideal whenever you want to busk, rehearse, or simply jamming. For most folks, somewhere in between is best and that’s why I recommend the Pignose HOG-20 that comes in at 14 pounds and 20 watts. That’s plenty of power for busking and small venues but not so much weight that it’s no longer portable.

The amp sounds pretty good for its size and price. The tone is great both clean and overdriven. You aren’t getting an overly vibrant bass tone here, but it isn’t dull and flat either. You get 30 watts of pure power to play with and 2 channels to plug a guitar and microphone (or another) into. The battery life is great and while Roland advertises 11 hours, your mileage may vary. When I used this little bass amp, it was working for around 8 hours between me and a few other musicians. That’s way more than enough for most folks and plenty for small gigs or busking. And if you are at a venue with power, it also comes with an AC adaptor so you can plug it into power. The JOYO Mini Bass is quite the interesting little amp. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of other battery powered amps, but what it does have is quite good. The amp is both AC-powered and Battery powered, using 6 Alkaline or 6 Rechargeable Ni-MH. The alkaline batteries will give you around 20 hours, while the rechargeable batteries will give you approximately 25 hours when using 2,400mAh capacity batteries. If you need a loud amp, you should aim for an amp with a high power output, but if you plan to practice mainly at home, this may not be a big concern for you. Battery Life The Roland below is a solid battery powered bass amplifier. It has four 4" speakers and this combo provides more than enough power to do small gigs and rehearsals.

That’s where the Spark Mini is really useful. The user interface has a bit of a learning curve, but once you’re across the navigation, the built-in effects and amp models are tremendous fun to play with. Specifically, you should look for an amp with extended battery life to ensure you can play uninterrupted for long periods. Additionally, consider the type and capacity of the battery being used and any power-saving features that the amp may have. While we don’t have flying cars or real hoverboards yet (I refuse to recognize those hilarious powered-sideways-skateboards as “hoverboards,” I wanna float- not slide!) But the bassist on the go doesn’t have to lug around an upright jazz bass anymore or go full Violent Femmes for that matter. For busking, the Cube LX has multiple connection options. You can either connect with USB or Aux, and it even has Bluetooth if you don’t want to mess around with extra cables. This wireless amplifier features full battery support and is powered via eight AA-size batteries or included AC adapter providing 7-10 hours of playing time. However, although Roland Cube Street is meant for performing musicians, it can also be used for practice or even as a home amp. You can use it both with vocals and guitar. This is where things get pretty subjective and what sounds great to one person will sound not-so-great to the next. To help you out, we’ve included a few YouTube videos that really highlight the bass tones and sound you can expect. Because playing along to the records I love is my favorite way to practice, this can be a great feature.

However, the most common product usually narrows down to a specific size at 1 x 18″, 1 x 15″, 4 x 10″, and the 8 x 10". The Phil Jones briefcase is rated at 100 Watts, and the recommended battery is a 12V 7Ah (84 watts for 1 hour or 1 watt for 84 hours). The instruction book suggests that this will last about an hour, depending on your playing style. The Boss Katana Airis the worlds first completely wireless guitar amplifier. This amplifier allows you to completely get rid of cables and go completely wireless without suffering from any latency. Built with excellent quality, the Dual Cube LX’s AC and the battery can power the amp, which requires 8 batteries and can last around 8-10 hours on the battery charge. The amp’s one-knob EQ allows you to adjust the depth of the EQ curve to achieve your desired tonal response. You can choose from a relatively flat sound with a modest mid-range boost to a developed mid-response with a cut at around 400Hz. The Phones/Recording output serves two purposes: Plug in a set of headphones and enjoy private practice with lush, stereo sound, or plug directly into a stereo mixer or recording device for accurate signal transfer directly from the MICRO CUBE BASS RX. Inputs The lightweight design is not only easy to carry but also easy on your wallet and the FLY3 is one of the more affordable portable bass amps out there. Look for tone controls, equalizers, and onboard effects that allow you to customize your sound. You should also consider the speaker’s size and quality, as this can greatly impact the overall sound quality. This makes it so bad because a bass amp is an accessory you often have to go around with wherever you go with your bass guitar. But, just when it wanted to get very discouraging, their battery-powered counterparts stepped in.
