About this deal

Paul Feig couldn’t have timed the U.K. launch any better, as annual global gin sales are expected to grow by 4.2% through 2023*. Market observers put this strong growth down to two main factors; consumers seeking more flavourful alternatives to vodka and the popularity of Negronis. The whole point of a Negroni is that the flavors are brash and bitter and hard to tame. But in this case, I think Artingstall’s actually does a pretty good job of pulling everything in line. With an ever-growing collection of distilleries demonstrating an amazing range of unique and creative expressions for gin, there’s no doubt that many are vying to put their own twists on the spirit. But with so many options, how can imbibers choose the perfect gin? If I can suggest, I think a little bit of lemon peel would be useful here. I don’t think you need to go wild on the additions, just a touch of garnish should take this G&T from good to great.

Gin is hard to pin down, perhaps more so than any other distillate, as the wide range of ingredients makes it variously suitable for different occasions. But, I have a place in my heart for the versatile, award-winning Broker’s Gin. A micro-distilled spirit from a 200-year-old recipe, it’s prepared in copper pot stills by two brothers with a quintessential British sense of humor. Just look for the bottle wearing a little bowler hat.” —Chris Keller, Bartender, Osaka Ramen, Denver He noted the gins that he “came upon”, which included Bombay Sapphire, had an “old-timey kind of flavour” from being so juniper-forward, which, while he found enjoyable, was not what he was looking to achieve with Artingstall’s Gin. Method: Add all ingredients to an old fashioned glass. Add ice and stir. Garnish with an orange peel. Enlisting the help of bartenders around the world, VinePair asked experts for their tried and true brands of gin. From classic London Dry and increasingly popular juniper-light styles, to several bartenders’ prized local products, keep reading for a list of gins sure to please any palate. The Best Gins Recommended by Bartenders Although life in Hollywood and making major motion pictures is incredibly time-consuming, Paul has still found the time to pursue one of his greatest passions, the pursuit of liquid perfection. His latest major venture was to launch his brand new premium spirit, Artingstall’s Gin, into the U.K. market. My fave gin is Kyoto Distillery’s KI NO BI. I like the Japanese botanicals, which are a little more subtle and nuanced and not as juniper-heavy. This gin features yuzu, ginger, and Japanese peppercorn instead.” —Emmanuelle Massicot, Assistant General Manager, Kata Robata, Houston What really helps, I think, is the licorice root component. It seems to add a bit of an earthiness that counteracts the bitterness of the Campari and really helps to bring balance to the glass. From there, you actually do get a hint of citrus and just a glimmer of juniper, which is honestly more than I usually get from most gins when mixed in a Negroni. Fizz (Gin & Tonic) Records the default button state of the corresponding category & the status of CCPA. It works only in coordination with the primary cookie. But since this is a gin, we can assume that this starts life as a neutral spirit (usually made from grain) that is imported into the facility. That raw alcohol is diluted with water and has some herbal and botanical elements added for flavoring — in this case, a reported eleven elements… none of which are actually disclosed. The mixture is then re-distilled to create the clear finished gin. Although Artingstall’s gin is a newcomer to British shores, it has already won over the palates of many across the pond following its 2020 U.S. launch. Since then, it has garnered numerous industry awards, including the Best of Show at the WSWA Spirits Tasting Competition and although new to the U.K market, it’s still managed to collect a Silver medal at the London Spirits Competition.

It still has that Juniper because I want it to be a gin, obviously, but just not have it be that slug in the face.” Artingstall’s signature serve is a Perfectly Brilliant MartiniFeig confirmed that despite the challenges that come with launching alcohol in the US due to the various different laws in each state, Artingstall’s is performing well in America. “We’ve got into some really great on-trade venues like the Polo Bar in New York, which is amazing. So we’re adding really cool places, it’s just a slow burn.”

Hollywood is no stranger when it comes to gin, a certain red-suited superhero actor who is quite liberal with his inuendos and profanities has already shown this. However, that potty-mouthed Canadian actor now faces some very stiff competition, and it comes in the beautiful form of Artingstall’s Gin. Founded in 1845 by a Mr. Bissinger, the Monroe Brewing Company in Monroe, Wisconsin (self proclaimed cheese capital of the world) has changed hands and names a lot over the years. The most recent owners are Ravinder and Manjit Minhas, who renamed the facility the Minhas Brewery and opened an additional distillery to capitalize on the current craft spirits craze. As a result, Feig wanted to create an approachable gin, with the incorporation of citrus and floral notes “just kind of floating under the surface”. Feig noted that in America, people “think they don’t like gin, because everybody had a weird experience when they were a kid opening a bottle of Beefeater that put them off.

Hollywood director Paul Feig has revealed that he curated his debut gin brand, Artingstall’s, with American consumers in mind. Artingstall’s Gin is presented at 42% ABV Just recently I was at somebody’s house and I was making Martinis and I asked my friend if she’d like to try one. She said ‘I literally can’t have gin’ and explained she had a traumatic experience in her past with gin that put her off.” On the aroma, there’s a bright flash of juniper up front — as one would expect from a good London Dry gin — mixed in with some lemon citrus and coriander spice. To their credit, the aroma actually a bit more well saturated than most of the other London style gins on the market.
