I was attracted to Chris Riddell's work mainly because of the fascinating illustrations he did for Neil Gaiman. To my delight, I discovered the Ottoline series and this is the first installment I read (and also the 3rd book in the series, I just found out). We meet 2 Foxes, a girl who looks like Ottoline (and even has a hairy friend just like Ottoline has), it was just a delight. I was a bit looking forward to some sort of twist though as to why the girl was so similar to Ottoline. But nothing really happens with it, the only thing that happens is that they are both amazed, and keep saying the same sentence. Introducing Miss Ottoline Brown, an exceptionally inquisitive Mistress of Disguise, and her partner in crime, Mr Munroe. Ottoline and the Yellow Cat is a quirky mystery-adventure from Chris Riddell, author of the award-winning Goth Girl books. Ottoline at Sea by Chris Riddell is an adventure fantasy and the last part in a trilogy. Ottoline, the eponymous hero of the book is an eccentric girl who lives in ‘Big City’ with Mr Munroe, a ‘bog person’ that met Ottoline’s parents in a bog in Norway and came to live with them. Ottoline is not an ordinary girl. She loves collecting odd shoes and is a ‘mistress of disguise’. Similarly eccentric, her parents travel the world as professional roving collectors while Ottoline stays at home with Mr Munroe.

The party was also great fun, good job Ottoline, that was really sweet of you and you friends to do. Hopefully those two will be very happy. When the friends are finally reunited they are surprised to find that Quite Big Foot is far from the frightening monster everyone believes him to be and they must find away to help him hide from prying eyes. Riddel's trademark illustrations and imaginative creatures come to life in Ottoline's latest adventure. Es muy fácil seguir la historia porque son pocos los personajes, muy distintos entre sí, humanos, perritos y otros seres fantásticos como el Sr. Munroe, un bichito peludo que odia la lluvia y que le cepillen. There is just one thing that I am still hoping for. That we will meet Ottoline's parents once. Even if it is a flash-visit, I would still love to see them come home.

Miss Ottoline Brown is an exceptionally inquisitive Mistress of Disguise living in Big City, who also has a diploma from the Who-R-U Academy of Disguise. She can solve any mystery that comes her way, as long as she has her yellow cat assistant by her side at all times, her trusty and faithful Mr Munroe. Este cuento es ideal para niños pequeños y que los papás les vayan leyendo porque las ilustraciones acompañan muy bien al texto y pueden fijarse en lo que sucede a través de los dibujos, y para los niños que ya leen, para coger cierta soltura porque la letra es grande, fácil de leer, cada página tiene ilustraciones en blanco, negro y rojo, además de texto en las mismas ilustraciones como si fuera un cómic o novela gráfica, es muy divertido, ameno, mantiene enganchado a la historia para saber como Ottoline una niña de la edad de los lectores, va buscando pistas para resolver estos misterios, pistas que también pueden descubrir los niños y así además de leer, jugar e interactuar con la novela. I loved how Goth Girl made a cameo in this one, and I loved how Ottoline dreamt of Goth Girl. The Bear's secret is kept by Ottoline, and he keeps quiet about Ottoline eavesdropping on other people. He dresses up as Lady Ursula Jansen-Smith, to try and buy "Bimby" (Mr Munroe) from the Yellow Cat. He appears at the end, hugging the Yellow Cat to try and stop her from escaping. It is hinted in Ottoline's parent's letter that the Bear lives with Ottoline and Mr Munroe after being found. The Bear is not like a stereotypical bear, and he is actually quite nice. He lived in the laundry room and stole clothes from other people.
