I went true to size for my Curry 8 and it was the correct choice, although the shoe did play tight and noticeably hugged my foot. This was not a problem for me as I enjoy a close fit on my basketball shoes but for those who prefer a bit of extra space, I’d recommend going up a half size. Length-wise they were true to size.

The traction and cushion both worked excellent straight out of the box, but it took a few wears for the upper knit to loosen up after slightly constricting my foot just a bit too tightly. This was not a big pain point but was just a small discomfort noticeable in the early days. If someone would tell me the Curry 8 weighs 8 ounces and I didn’t know the truth – I’d probably believe them! It’s been a while since the all-new Curry Flow 8 has released, and now we got the next iteration – the Curry Flow 9. You aren’t going to find a lot of durability with the shoe, and the fit could be better, but the unparalleled traction and bi-direction fit make it an excellent option for guards of all types. Comfort I never personally reached a point where I thought this isn’t enough for me but I’d be lying if I said I’d like a little more structure ideally.I’ve never seriously hurt my toes but after a longer session with these, those things definitely wanted some rest, that’s for sure. The heel area compresses a little bit but never too much, so you’re just as fast as you’d be on any other Curry. It’s just a little softer, and a little more pleasant this time. If I have one big gripe with the Curry 8 it’s the impact protection. The shoes have a solid amount of cushion and their fit is nice. However, you’re definitely going to feel it when you come down hard. They seem more suited at giving you lift during runs than jumping.

The upper of the Curry uses a knit build that has very solid ventilation. In multiple active 2-hour shoot around my foot never felt noticeably hot and there was also never noticeable sweat buildup that I sometimes experience when wearing other shoes.The low weight is another factor that contributes to its appropriateness for guard usage. Its weight sits in the same comparable range as the popular Nike KD/ Nike Kyrie/ Jordan releases. I don’t usually like to go all the way in calling a shoe a “next-gen” shoe due to its innovations tech-wise or design-wise for that time period, but you know what? I could be able to pull it off with the Splash Brother’s first independent brand shoe, the Curry 8 Flow by Curry Brand& Under Armour. My own experience and knowledge of basketball sneakers, combined with additional extensive research, allowed me to properly cover the Curry 8s in extreme detail. The shoe just felt different the moment I’ve put it on. I’m not going to go all the way and say “it’s the true next-generation shoe” because who knows what that even means. But it’s the smooth running transitions and overall flow of movements that make this setup fantastic. The heel is slightly elevated while the platform is slightly curved up at the front and while this is nothing new, it seems that they really nailed it here in terms of precision.In fact, there’s no such thing as a distinct outsole & midsole here as the whole white bottom piece is made of lightweight foam. The upper is what you call “barebones”– a thin knit covers most of the shoe while the synthetic plasticy material is layered along the medial & lateral sides to help containment.

I’m a long time basketball player with over twenty five years of experience playing the game. Those years on the court have led me to wear many different types and styles of shoes.It’s got the deadliest traction I’ve ever experienced on a hoop shoe to the point where it’s almost too aggressive. The medial sections of the foam do come out a little more, which does help plant off the inside foot more confidently. There’s also a small torsional plate for some torsional rigidity. The upper’s a lightweight knit with minimal reinforcements so while it’s very comfortable and efficient, it might not last as long. Do they fit true to size or should you alter your choice?
