Bruce Wayne/Batman's backstory and life are mired in tragedy starting with the loss of his parents in his childhood, he's one of the quintessential tragic superheroes for a reason. Roman's desperate attempt to thwart Batman and Robin at his father's manor ended up with Roman setting it ablaze. As mentioned previously, Gordon blatantly cheating on his wife is a major plot point in one of the most celebrated Batman stories ever crafted. because the latter, while looking normal, still has a very fantastical evil plan, whereas the "innocent guy's" plan is very crude, not requiring the brain of a criminal mastermind to devise, and thus seeming like something an average person would think of.

I think this title did the subject matter very tasteful and it being less than 100 pages really made it tightly paced and well created. Mixing Batman and feudal Japan should have been incredible, especially considering how the characters were re-designed by Afro Samurai's creator, Takashi Okazaki. Goodwin isn't afraid to attempt to tackle some extremely dark topics in a very raw and rather graphic manner. Soon, the Dark Knight finds himself in the middle of a paranormal mystery while tracking a man who sold his soul to the devil.This makes it question if stopping him worth it based on the disgusting behaviors of the victims of the killer. Now, take this insane thought process, and combine it with an impressive set of powers: pheromonic Mind Control, body-generated poison, scientific super-genius, and command over the plant kingdom.

Years later he finished what he started by suffocating his mother in cold blood with a pillow, all as the world thought that it was just a simple household accident. Simply put, Gordon is at the heart of this story just as much as the masked vigilante he works with, helping to emphasize the theme of stopping the traumatized to traumatized others. However, remembering all of the people in Gotham that were going through similar pain kept him from ultimately doing the deed. However, this detective story portrays a drug-ridden Gotham that becomes more and more decadent by the moment as the mystery is revealed.

Taking a drug designed to curb sociopathic tendencies and induce some empathy and reverse the effects, to drug every infant in Gotham to turn them into sociopathic killers like him. As they attempt to stop the killer, both men realize that some crimes, especially those happening in the privacy of a home, are tougher to stop. I don’t really want to spoil anything else, as this a story that you will just have to read for yourself to decide whether or not it works for you. While wearing hot pink clothing and driving a flamboyant pink motorcycle would make most villains much less intimidating, the way Flamingo does it creates a disturbing contrast with his depravity, making it even worse. Possibly worse than his drug addiction is seeing the little girl drown on-panel as he tries desperately to save her by lifting a heavy rock.
