About this deal
All models of the Kangaroo have a listed age recommendation range of 8 months to 33 pounds. However, we strongly encourage you to wait to use any baby bike seat until your child is 12 months old. 12 months is also the age that is recommend by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Footrests are great for keeping your child’s feet away from the moving parts of a bike. Here are some things to consider: is there any chance of entrapment? Are the feet secured in place to ensure no opportunity to go near the bike’s wheels. Fits most bikes including oversized head tubes and full suspension of 16”+ (except drop handle bars). Comes with its own bar so fits to Ladies and Mens bikes. New adaptor available for zero headset bikes. Once the spacer is installed, simply remove the smaller, thinner plastic spacer inside the front clamp of the seat’s mounting bar (the plastic insert closest to the “FRONT” marking on the bar, marked with red arrow below). Once removed, wrap the clamp around the groved spacer, making sure the end of the bar is placed inside the spacers’ groves, and then tighten. Below you can see how the Co-Pilot fit our 4, 6, 8, and 10-year-old riders. Our smallest rider, at 41″, is the smallest we would recommend to comfortably and safely ride the Co-Pilot.
Our bike seat will fit almost all bicycles – mountain, hybrid, full suspension, cruiser, men’s or ladies, full-size folding bikes, even bikes with oversized head tubes. As long as your bike has between 49 to 60cm clearance from seat post to headset, the Weeride Kangaroo will fit. However we do not recommend it for racer bikes or drop handle bikes because of the riding position (rider is too hunched over) and for small-wheel / 20” compact folding bikes . Why buy Weeride Kangaroo versus other bike seats? In the box – baby bike seat, mounting bar, tools, extended bolts for oversized tubes ie everything you need. I would certainly be looking at a front or centre mounted seat on a mountain bike. A mountain bike child seat going over all the rough terrain without having an eye on your child would just be too much of a concern. The WeeRide also uniquely fits full suspension bikes. HYBRID BIKE So, how do you choose the one for you when there are so many seats out there? You need to consider the types of seat, what bike you have, safety features and more. We’ve put together 5 tips to choosing the best kids bike seat. Restraints are critical to keep your child safely inside the seat without any possibility of falling out. Will your child be held securely on the seat? Ideally a 5 point safety harness is your best option. To be fair, this is an issue that we haven’t seen anyone solve completely, even with foot straps, so just know that little feet on your handlebars is a potential downside for any front-mounted seat.
For WeeRide bike seats weight is never the factor that stops a child using the seat, it is height. The child will start to run out of room for their legs. But because kids have different body and leg make-ups, and bikes have different geometries, we don’t give an official height. We just generalise and say height becomes an issue around aged 4. WeeRide produces the only truly centre mounted baby bicycle seat . A centre mounted child bicycle seat has all the benefits of the front mounted baby bike seat, but without the disadvantage of adding the child’s weight to the front of the bike. The patented bar connects to the bike’s frame under the headset and on the seat post, and this centralises the child’s weight. So you can talk to your child and point things out, and they are completely safe in their seat with your arms around them and the weight is centralised. The WeeRide improves the balance of the bike. REAR MOUNTED CHILD BIKE SEATS – SUIT AGES 1 TO 5 YEARS Usually when we are on rides that go beyond what our toddler can handle with his balance bike, we strap him into our trusty Burley D’Lite, a comfortable bike trailer that has lasted through 3 older siblings and is still going strong. However, our adventurous little guy (who thinks he is already a big boy) sometimes gets bored inside the trailer and can resist. If it’s not clear a seat has this approval you should be wary. If they have tested the seat themselves, then there is another red flag. Whilst many high quality products do exist, we often see products that have been self tested originating from China.Once you try it, it’s easy to see why the WeeRide Kangaroo is The No. 1 selling seat in the USA and U.K. As above, I would recommend a front or centre mounted seat. Just for the benefits of being able to communicate with your child and for their enjoyment. CRUISER BIKE WeeRide recommends the Co-Pilot be used with 4 to 9-year-olds and a max of 75 lbs. We tested it out with this motley group of kids ages 4 to 12, weighing 34 to 82 lbs.
In our real-life testing, about half of our adult bikes did not have adequate space to mount this seat and would have required the spacer. It fits all bikes including oversized head tubes and full suspension bikes from 16" + (except drop handle bars) and comes with its own bar so the WeeRide Safe Front Bike Seat will fit both men’s and women’s bikes. The rotating hitch on the Co-Pilot allows you to turn your bike while the angle of the Co-Pilot flexes behind you. As a result, you can navigate relatively tight turns without causing both of you to fall over! Be aware that the heavier the child, the farther out they will swing on tight turns. Also be aware that you can’t take turns as tightly as you would do riding your bike on your own. Don’t go too crazy! As we mentioned, this process of attaching or removing the seat takes time and tools and is a pain if it’s something you’ll want to do often. WeeRide accepts no responsibility for any damage to a bike where the product has not been correctly fitted. Our primary tester for the WeeRide was almost 3 years old and in the 90 th percentile for height and weight. He fit very comfortably in the seat once we adjusted for maximum space in the harness and footrests, and was clearly at the upper end of the tolerances for this model. The WeeRide Safe Front Seat is a uniquely designed child seat which mounts to the bikes top tube for a closer parent and child riding experience. The unique mounting position allows for your child to feel extra safe by sitting comfortably between your arms, leading to a more intimate shared experience. Not only does this make for a better experience for your child, the weight is distributed more equally to allow for better handling of your bike when riding. You can therefore focus more on chatting to your child and pointing out all the amazing sights on your ride! Front seats are perfect for Cruiser bikes where you tend to have more space between the rider and the handlebars, a good example being the Ibert Baby Bike Seat. CHOOSE A BIKE SEAT THAT IS COMPATIBLE WITH DIFFERENT BIKES
To be fair, rider space is a very common issue with front-mounted seats. However, it’s a bit more exaggerated with the Weeride Kangaroo. Front-mounted seats are smaller than rear-mounted seats because they have to fit between the adult rider and the bike’s handlebars.Almost all front-mounted seats are designed for babies and toddlers about 1 to 3 years old. Rear-mounted seats can be bigger because there’s more room in the rear of a bike, so they typically fit kids longer, up to 4 or 5 years old. Buying a child bike seat is a big decision for you and your child. It is saying you want to spend quality time with your child outdoors whilst looking after your own health. So why else should you buy a seat and what should you consider? However, you’ll only have to install it once. Once in place, the seat itself can be removed and reattached easily, which our tester really loved. Although the bar left behind when the seat isn’t on doesn’t look too snazzy and adds a significant weight to the bike, being able to remove the seat for everyday riding so easily is a huge bonus. The WeeRide Kangaroo sits in between the saddle and the handlebars, over the bike’s top tube and pretty close to the adult rider. Most other front-mounted seats are mounted on the handlebars, farther away from the adult. Kazam Kangaroo seat position vs. Thule Yepp Nexxt Mini
