These were a few of our favorite colored pencil sets for coloring skin tones. However, this list is by no means exhaustive. If you have a nice selection of starting colors, a pencil with good blending ability, and a steady hand, then you can begin producing great skin colors! You might still remember from elementary school that primaries make up the rest of the colours. Red yellow and blue can make green violet and orange. But Instead of the ”ordinary” red yellow and blue, I’m choosing Magenta, yellow and cyan. I’m using my beloved Prismacolor Premier pencils for this project. Blue Yellow Red VS Cyan Yellow Magenta Then start in the darkest area of the face. It is always easier to make dark areas even darker afterwards instead of making light areas lighter. For example, if you start in the light area and it turns out to be too dark, it is difficult to touch up with an eraser later. No it doesn’t!!! Just list the colors please!!!! It doesn’t over a year to edit this to add COLOR NAMES!!! Reply When you get a full set of colored pencils, you get all the undertones you could ever need. You won’t just get two or three shades of pink and yellow, but a whole tray of them. You won’t just get one or two cool undertones, but a whole variety of them.

Reply Once you have established what sorts of color you will need, compare that to what colored pencil you have at your fingertips. Figure out where the major color gaps are. These areas will require you to get creative by blending/layering to achieve the desired effect. The most potent of the solvent blends I use is turpentine, though I don’t use it very often. It works the same way as odorless mineral spirits, but breaks down wax-binder more completely. My experience has been a maximum of two blends before the solvent begins removing more color than it blends. A: Apply all your colors (highlights, midtones, shadows) in four to six layers of soft shading. Once you are close to the look you are aiming for, apply one last layer of colored pencil, but this time press hard on it to seal the colors and blend all of the layers underneath together. When you are satisfied with the colours and shades, take your lightest coloured pencil (white or grey) and move it in a curved motion over darker areas that you would like to appear “ softer“. The pencil will blend the underlying colours and make the surface appear smooth. Repeat the same for the light areas of the face with a white pencil. Wow, Jeanniene! Maybe you should try some wine. In later layers, where there’s a lot of pigment on the paper, you can use heavier pressure, but it’s best to use medium pressure (normal handwriting pressure) to avoid scuffing the paper or removing color.
